Hernando Ruiz-Jimenez Takes Leadership Role at Geisinger

In a significant move for Geisinger Health System, Hernando Ruiz-Jimenez has been appointed as the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer. In this role, he will manage everything from brand and digital marketing to corporate communications and service line marketing for the entire system. This appointment follows Ruiz-Jimenez's impressive track record spanning over 20 years in marketing leadership across various sectors.

Before joining Geisinger, Ruiz-Jimenez held prominent positions in respected organizations. He served as the Chief Marketing Officer at NewYork-Presbyterian for four years, where he played a crucial role in transforming the marketing department and guiding it through the challenging early pandemic phases in one of the country’s most affected regions. Additionally, he was the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer at Triple-S Insurance, a licensee of BlueCross BlueShield, for three years. His diverse experience also includes leadership roles at notable consumer brands such as Pepsi and Captain Morgan.

Ruiz-Jimenez’s extensive background in marketing positions him uniquely to enhance Geisinger’s brand narrative. He expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity, stating, "As someone with a passion for healthcare marketing, the appeal of being able to tell the Geisinger story and promote this well-known, respected brand was obvious." His vision aligns with Geisinger’s mission as a leader in the value-based care model—an approach crucial to elevating healthcare standards across the United States.

Geisinger stands out for its capability to provide high-quality healthcare in both rural areas and smaller cities, comparable to that offered in larger academic medical centers located in Philadelphia, New York, and other urban hubs.

On top of his healthcare marketing expertise, Ruiz-Jimenez held the role of General Manager and Chief Marketing Officer at Un(Think) Foods, a pioneering agricultural startup. His educational qualifications include an M.B.A. from Stanford University and a B.S. in Business Administration from Villanova University, further enhanced by his role as a professor at the City College of New York's Branding + Integrated Communications Master’s Program.

Ruiz-Jimenez is also involved with professional organizations, serving as a Member and Governance Fellow of the National Association of Corporate Directors as well as the Latino Corporate Directors Association.
