Dive into the Artistic World of 'META TAXI' at Roppongi Tsutaya Bookstore

Explore 'UNFRAMED by OIL × META TAXI'

From January 4 to January 30, 2026, the Roppongi Tsutaya Bookstore will host an extraordinary collaborative art exhibition titled 'UNFRAMED by OIL × META TAXI.' This event marks a unique partnership between the art platform OIL, which is operated by Culture Convenience Club (CCC) and known for promoting a lifestyle centered on art, and the innovative YouTube channel 'META TAXI,' which revolves around the theme of late-night taxi rides in Tokyo.

The 'UNFRAMED' initiative was conceived with the intention of making art more accessible to the digital-native generation. It aims to break away from conventional artistic boundaries by merging contemporary art with next-gen content. At this exhibition, three promising young contemporary artists will showcase their interpretations of the 'META TAXI' universe through their paintings.

Featured Artists

Katsumi Asano

Katsumi Asano creates extraordinary artwork using bold colors based on a delicate wave-like brush technique. His paintings evoke powerful emotions and energy, which he refers to as 'the technique of energy.' While traditionally known for his portraits, Asano will present landscape paintings for the first time, depicting the night streets of Shinjuku and Kabukicho as a modern exploration of the 'scenes of desire.'

Machi Sugita

Machi Sugita’s works exude a whimsical atmosphere through vibrant light, transforming real-world issues into radiant expressions. She strives to use her art to reflect various social problems and invites viewers to ponder them. In this exhibition, Sugita will depict ethereal landscapes and human forms, transcending nationality and gender, thus illustrating an 'ideal world' bathed in soft light.

Aiko Taguchi

Aiko Taguchi examines beauty in the human body through her work, integrating digital elements onto a flat surface to traverse the realms of reality and fiction. At 'UNFRAMED,' she will showcase pieces featuring her imaginary life forms called 'Body,' which will appear in Google Street View. This series aims to heighten the reality of these fictional beings within a factual backdrop, vividly portraying the beauty of new bodily forms as they oscillate between the digital and analog dimensions.

Venue Details

The artworks will be displayed on the art wall of the second floor at Roppongi Tsutaya Bookstore, and visitors will have the opportunity to purchase unique artworks from January 4 to January 30. Don't miss your chance to discover how contemporary artists interpret the exciting world of 'META TAXI' firsthand.

A Stunning Art Wall

A notable highlight of this exhibition is the immense art wall measuring 14 meters in width and 2.5 meters in height, featuring artwork from illustrator TEL. The massive mural will showcase characters from the 'META TAXI' series, creating an engaging environment that envelops visitors during their experience.

Commemorative Merchandise

In celebration of this collaboration, exclusive 'META TAXI' merchandise will be available for purchase in Roppongi Tsutaya Bookstore's first-floor fair space and at the OIL by Bijutsutecho Gallery on the second floor of Shibuya Parco. You can physically explore and try on these original items, typically only available through the online store.
