Originally hailing from Nashville, Shackleford has held several leadership and project management roles throughout her career, including significant positions at CSDG, ESP Associates, and Gresham Smith. Notably, she has considerable experience as a partner at Design and Engineering Inc., where she successfully fostered long-term relationships with clients and municipalities while delivering high-quality engineering solutions.

Her academic credentials include a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Tennessee Technological University, and she is licensed to practice as a professional engineer in Tennessee, Kentucky, Florida, and California. Additionally, Shackleford is a life member of the Chi Epsilon and Tau Beta Pi engineering honor societies and has previously contributed to professional organizations such as the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the Tennessee Society of Professional Engineers (TSPE).
