New Leadership Announced for Water Systems Council Board in 2025-26

The Water Systems Council (WSC), the only national nonprofit organization dedicated solely to the welfare of household wells and small water well systems, has recently unveiled its new leadership for the upcoming 2025-26 term. The announcement highlights the appointment of Mark Heflin as the President of the WSC Board of Directors. With an impressive background in the water management industry, Heflin is poised to lead the organization in its mission to promote sustainable and safe drinking water solutions.

Mark Heflin is not new to the water sector, having worked as the Senior Director of Global Product Management at Franklin Electric Co., Inc. since 2021. His extensive seven-year tenure at Franklin Electric has given him significant experience in product management, especially related to water systems across North America. Heflin’s professional journey also includes a remarkable 26-year career with General Electric (GE), where he held various leadership roles within their Automotive, Appliance, and Industrial Motor segments. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Iowa State University and resides in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

In conjunction with Heflin's appointment, the WSC welcomed Patrick Sless, Vice President of Sales for Grundfos in the USA and Canada, to its board, filling the position left by Dan Story. Fred Fann has been designated as the Treasurer, further strengthening the financial oversight of the organization. The rest of the board members for the 2025-26 term includes notable figures such as David Rutz from Xylem, Matthew Servant from Pentair, and various representatives from key manufacturing and distribution companies in the water industry.

The newly established board will focus on key initiatives aimed at advocating for the broader use of private wells as reliable and cost-effective sources of drinking water while also prioritizing the protection of groundwater resources. WSC aims to engage more manufacturers, distributors, and professionals in discussions surrounding the efficacy and safety of well water systems. As part of this initiative, the organization emphasizes the importance of ensuring a safe drinking water supply for well owners across the nation.

WSC's singular focus on household wells and small shared water systems has garnered a diverse membership. The organization includes major manufacturers of well-related components, leading distributors, and various professionals contributing to the safe and efficient usage of these systems. With the experience and dedication of the new board, WSC is set to navigate the complexities of water management while remaining a steadfast advocate for well water users across the U.S.
