Chitose Biomass Conversion Plant at Morioka Zoo
Japan's NSK Corporation announced the deployment of twenty-one Chitose Biomass Conversion Plants at the Morioka City Zoo (ZOOMO) in Iwate Prefecture. In partnership with the Chitose Group, these plants have been developed to convert animal waste and leftover feed into organic fertilizer, enhancing the zoo's resource recycling efforts.
Located within the zoo, five of these plants are in public areas where visitors can observe the composting process in action. The plant officially commenced operations on May 1, and by May 22, the first batch of organic fertilizer produced from the composting process was spread across the zoo's grasslands.
This introduction of the composting facility is part of a broader initiative by both Chitose and NSK to expand their biomass recycling projects. The innovative monitoring systems being utilized in the plant, including the stirring mechanisms that assist in compost creation and track the progress of the composting process, highlight NSK's advanced technology.
The Chitose Group, recognized as a leader in the global bio-economy, is committed to ensuring a rich environment for humanity for the next millennium. By collaborating with governments and numerous businesses, they strive to deliver technology to society while maintaining economic viability.
