Check Point's 2026 Exposure Gap Report
Check Point® Software Technologies Ltd., a pioneer in cybersecurity solutions and a global leader in the field, has released its latest report entitled "Under Pressure: The 2026 Exposure Gap Report." This comprehensive report outlines a concerning trend in cybersecurity, wherein the proportion of critical vulnerabilities has doubled over the past year. However, alarmingly, less than 8.3% of these vulnerabilities are deemed urgent enough for immediate response, highlighting a significant gap in exposure management.
As cyber attackers increasingly exploit automated and AI-assisted tools, the speed and scale at which exposure is expanded are changing drastically. Threat actors have developed the capability to target a larger number of organizations and expose systems, credentials, phishing infrastructure, and known vulnerabilities faster than traditional manual triage can manage. Consequently, this has led to the widening of the "exposure gap," which refers to the time available for defenders to respond before exposure leads to actual damage.
Key Findings of the 2026 Exposure Gap Report
1.
Dramatic Increase in Vulnerabilities: A staggering 42.6% of critical exposures are attributed to vulnerabilities, up from just 18.7% a year earlier.
2.
Gap in Prioritization: Only 7.8% of all vulnerability alerts were flagged as
