Free Lunch Experience! School Lunch Event on January 27-28

Discover the Free School Lunch Experience Event!

Tokyo is set to host a unique school lunch event called "The Second School Lunch Time Traveler," organized by Nakanishi Manufacturing Co., on January 27 and 28, 2026. This free tasting opportunity will allow attendees to sample 90 servings each day of both historical and contemporary school lunch favorites.

A Delicious Journey Through Time

This event offers a special selection of beloved school lunch items, including the nostalgic whale fried chicken, the ever-popular ABC soup, and the timeless fried bread (kinako flavor). Additionally, a mini chocolate crafted with a 3D food printer will be provided for guests to enjoy.

What makes this event stand out is that the tasting experiences will be served in actual elementary school dishware, allowing participants to fully immerse themselves in the nostalgic ambiance of school lunches. It’s a chance to enjoy a vibrant mix of flavors while exploring the evolution of school meals.

The Vision Behind the Event

Since its establishment in 1946, Nakanishi Manufacturing has dedicated itself to the school lunch sector, starting with the sale of aluminum tableware. Our aim with this event is to raise awareness about our ongoing commitment to the school lunch program. We want to foster a deeper connection between attendees and the essential people behind the scenes, like kitchen staff and equipment that keep this vital service running.

After the overwhelming success of last year’s inaugural event, where samples ran out shortly after it opened, Nakanishi has decided to extend this popular event to two days to accommodate more guests.

What to Expect This Year

For this year's event, tasting will take place using school lunch dishes, allowing for a more authentic experience. The lively colors and themes of school meal settings will enhance the overall nostalgia. Visitors will also have a chance to see a live demonstration of the 3D food printer, giving them a glimpse into the future of school meals while enjoying the created chocolates.

To ensure a pleasant dining experience and to manage crowd levels, numbered tickets will be issued for specific time slots on the day of the event.
