Scientific Games Wins 2026 Communitas Award for Corporate Responsibility Excellence

Scientific Games Celebrates 2026 Communitas Award

ATLANTA, October 13, 2026 — Scientific Games, a renowned global lottery company, has been honored with the prestigious Communitas Award 2026 for excellence in corporate social responsibility. This recognition is a testament to the company’s commitment to ethical and environmental stewardship, particularly highlighted through their innovative recycling project involving wooden pallets used in lottery ticket transport.

The Communitas Award, known for celebrating organizations that are exemplary in their social programs, recognized Scientific Games for its unique collaboration with the v. Bodelschwingh Bethel Foundations, one of the largest social service organizations in Germany. The initiative aims to recycle wooden pallets and create meaningful job opportunities for individuals with disabilities, showcasing the company’s dedication to community enhancement and sustainable practices.

Andrew Jackson, Vice President of Corporate Responsibility at Scientific Games, expressed pride in receiving the Communitas Award. He stated, “This project exemplifies our global efforts to invest in local initiatives that generate measurable social and environmental impacts, empowering communities and adding lasting value.”

Community Impact Through Innovative Recycling

The partnership between Scientific Games and Bethel began with the donation of hundreds of wooden pallets that were previously used for transporting scratch-off lottery tickets. Instead of allowing these pallets to end up in landfills, the untreated wood was repurposed into birdhouses and toys. These handcrafted wooden products are made by individuals with disabilities at Bethel’s Kracks workshop. The items are sold in Bethel’s store, generating revenue that supports the organization’s programs and future endeavors for individuals with disabilities.

Dunja Vukotic-Finkler, Director of Operations for Instant Tickets at Scientific Games, described the venture as an innovative initiative to reintegrate valuable materials back into community activity. “Thanks to our collaboration with Bethel, these pallets are being transformed into products that enhance skill development and employment for individuals with disabilities. We are proud to see how an initiative rooted in our daily operations is recognized for its environmental and social benefits,” she noted.

A Sustainable Future

This ongoing collaboration not only reduces waste sent to landfills but also extends the lifespan of natural materials. The periodic contributions of materials are helping Bethel expand its woodworking capabilities while preparing for larger and more complex projects.

Jürgen Hoff, Head of the Kracks workshop at Bethel, emphasized the vital role quality wood donations play, especially during challenging economic times when charitable contributions tend to decline. The donated materials empower participants to create products that fund additional programs and aid in skill development through meaningful work.

The 2026 accolade adds to the accolades Scientific Games received in 2025, including two Communitas Awards for their SG Tech project, which donates refurbished technology equipment to local schools, and for their volunteering efforts in a STEAM career mentoring program focused on young women.

Scientific Games operates with a mission centered around serving communities worldwide, assisting government-regulated lotteries in generating billions of dollars annually to fund socially beneficial programs, including health, education, and environmental initiatives. The Communitas Awards are inspired by the vision of a better world through volunteerism, investment, and ethical business practices.
