Strengthening Sales Power Through Digital Technology in Small Business Unions

The Akabou Metropolitan Light Automobile Transport Association, led by Chairman Shinichi Hasegawa, has been selected as the contractor for a special support project aimed at bolstering sales power through digital technology. This initiative, organized in collaboration with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Tokyo Federation of Small Business Associations, represents a significant effort in supporting small business unions to enhance their operations through digitization. This year marks the first time that the association has been chosen for such a project.

The project is aptly titled the "Sustainable Logistics Infrastructure Development Project" and was kicked off with activities that are already showing results as the deadline for contract completion approaches in March of this year. Here’s an overview of the key developments.

1. Service Development for Shippers

Introduction of a Shipper Online Service

The association has launched a dedicated web platform for shippers, allowing them to place transport requests and track their cargo on an interactive map. This innovation is geared towards enhancing the efficiency of the ordering process and improving customer satisfaction. Requests for transport are managed effectively at various delivery centers within Tokyo, Tamagawa, Saitama, Chiba, and Kanagawa, ensuring that shippers receive tailored transport services to fit their needs.

2. Support for Streamlining Transport Operations

Schedule Management System for Members

A calendar-based scheduling tool has been integrated into the NAiS system, which governs the operations and dispatch tasks for the association. This application enhances the visibility of individual members' schedules and is anticipated to significantly boost operational efficiencies.

Digital Invoice System

To alleviate the administrative burden faced by staff and members, the association has digitized the billing process. This transition to electronic invoicing not only reduces the workload but also drastically cuts down expenses related to printing and postage.

3. Support Services for the Industry

Disaster Communication Module

A new system has been established to enable the main office to track vehicle location information during emergencies. This capability is crucial for ensuring a prompt response in the event of disasters, thereby contributing to overall safety and preparedness.

Safety Manager Application Feature

To facilitate the submission of documentation related to safety management, the member application has been revamped within the NAiS system. This ensures compliance with safety management regulations for lightweight cargo vehicles, enhancing the association's overall value.

Daily Roll Call Record Functionality

Members can now manage their daily roll call records online through enhancements made in the NAiS system. This feature provides essential systems for member safety and security, aligning with best practices in the cargo transport industry.

Through these new developments and modifications, the Akabou Metropolitan Light Automobile Transport Association aims to elevate its value via digital transformation, thereby contributing to the growth of both the association and the light cargo transportation sector. As the project progresses, it stands to create a more sustainable and efficient logistics network that benefits all stakeholders involved.
