S&T Bank's Commitment to Childhood Cancer Research
In a heartwarming display of community spirit and corporate responsibility, S&T Bank has announced a record-breaking donation of
$120,000 to the
Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF), surpassing their initial goal of $85,000. This year marks the fourth consecutive contribution from S&T Bank to the foundation, bringing their total fundraising efforts for pediatric cancer research to over
$360,000 since the initiative began.
The donation was part of the bank's ongoing efforts to support ALSF, an organization founded by
Alexandra Scott, who began raising funds for childhood cancer research even as she battled cancer herself. By the time she passed away at the young age of eight, Alex had raised over
$1 million, and her legacy continues to inspire organizations like S&T Bank to contribute to this vital cause.
From
May 30 to June 6 this year, branches of S&T Bank across
Pennsylvania and Ohio participated in a series of events known as
Lemonade Days. Employees hosted lemonade stands at every branch and operations center, engaging with customers and the local community while raising funds and awareness for childhood cancer. This grassroots fundraising effort allowed people from all walks of life to come together for a common cause, fostering a culture of compassion and support in the regions S&T serves.
Chris McComish, the CEO of S&T Bank, expressed his pride in the bank's support of ALSF, stating, "Seeing our employees, customers, and communities rally around this cause each year is incredibly inspiring. Our ongoing participation in Lemonade Days exemplifies our commitment to put people first."
Dave Antolik, the bank's President, also highlighted the significance of this initiative, saying, "The week underscores our employees' dedication to making a positive impact in the communities we serve. It’s humbling to lead a team that genuinely cares about those around them and champions this effort every year."
The partnership between S&T Bank and ALSF has proven to be exceptionally fruitful, showcasing the increased impact year by year.
Liz Scott, co-executive director of ALSF and Alex’s mother, shared her appreciation for the bank's continued support. She remarked, "The outstanding generosity of the S&T team and their community shines through in the funds raised during Lemonade Days. They go above and beyond to raise more each year, and we are incredibly grateful for the support S&T brings to the fight against childhood cancer."
As part of their mission, ALSF has raised over
$350 million since its inception, funding more than
1,000 research projects, family support programs, and innovative advancements toward treatments for children with cancer. This significant donation from S&T Bank will further fuel these efforts, offering hope and assistance to countless families affected by this devastating disease.
Conclusion
S&T Bank's remarkable achievement is a testament to how corporate organizations can lead by example, inspiring others within the community to take action against childhood cancer. By successfully engaging in such philanthropic efforts, the bank not only supports essential research and advocacy but also strengthens its commitment to being a responsible corporate citizen.
