Enhancing Japanese Food Culture in Thailand: Adismuse Group's New Marukome Store
The Adismuse Group, headquartered in Chuo Ward, Tokyo, with Takaya Takahashi as its president, embarked on an exciting project with Marukome Co., Ltd. to construct a new store in Thailand. This venture marks Marukome's twelfth year of operations in the country, aiming at fostering deeper market penetration and enriching the local experience of Japanese culinary culture. The collaboration between the two companies integrated master design capabilities from Japan with local execution in Thailand, aiming to enhance the brand's value through a well-conceived spatial experience.
A Multifunctional Flagship Store in Bangkok
The newly opened flagship store for Marukome in Thailand features an innovative hybrid design that combines product sales with an on-site kitchen. Located approximately 20 minutes by BTS from the heart of Bangkok, the store is situated in the vibrant W District near the Phra Khanong station—a locale popular with both locals and tourists with a variety of rooftop bars and international food stalls. This strategic location allows the store to function as a prominent hub for disseminating Japanese food culture to an eclectic mix of visitors.
The store design incorporates an open space at the front dedicated to product sales and promotions, while the rear features a kitchen studio that supports the development of new products and e-commerce operations. The planning intelligently merges the functional aspects of the store with the broader brand message Marukome aims to convey.
Balancing Japanese Aesthetics with Local Optimization
In this project, Adismuse Group meticulously synchronized master design work in Japan with local planning and construction in Thailand. The goal was to realize a space that epitomizes “Japanese essence” while employing materials and methods easily sourced locally, thus achieving a balance between cost efficiency and construction speed. The team, well-versed in local construction codes and environments, ensured that every detail, from hygiene to workflow planning, was carefully considered. Adismuse Group’s ability to maintain quality while also optimizing for local conditions stands as a significant strength of the company.
