Nominations Open for the 2025 Toyota Family Teacher of the Year
The National Center for Families Learning (NCFL), in partnership with Toyota North America, has announced that nominations are now accepted for the 2025 Toyota Family Teacher of the Year award. This initiative aims to recognize the remarkable contributions of educators who play a vital role in transforming the educational landscape for families. With a focus on fostering family engagement and effective partnerships between schools and families, this award celebrates the educators who truly make a difference in their communities.
About the Award
Instituted over two decades ago, the Toyota Family Teacher of the Year award has highlighted extraordinary educators committed to a multigenerational approach to learning. The selected recipient will not only receive a generous monetary prize of $20,000 to further their family learning projects, but they will also gain recognition at the 2025 Families Learning Conference in Charlotte, North Carolina, to be held on November 5. The conference serves as a national platform bringing together educators, practitioners, and organizations dedicated to family learning.
A runner-up for the award will also be honored with a $5,000 prize. This recognition is aimed at celebrating those who go above and beyond in engaging children and families in the learning process. NCFL and Toyota encourage nominations from throughout the United States, aiming to shine a light on the unsung heroes within our educational framework who contribute significantly to the success of children and families across the nation.
How to Nominate
Nominations can be submitted through NCFL's website and are open until March 16, 2025, at 11:59 PM PDT. Anyone familiar with an educator's impact, such as colleagues, adult learners, or administrators, can submit a nomination.
To be eligible, nominees must:
- - Work in the United States in an educational setting that involves family engagement.
- - Demonstrate a proven record in engaging families in educational initiatives.
- - Show a strong commitment to supporting family collaboration in educational settings.
- - Employ innovative strategies to extend their programs for better community impact.
- - Focus on serving families from under-resourced backgrounds and high literacy needs.
Since the award's inception in 1997, a total of $725,000 has been awarded to Toyota Family Teacher of the Year winners, helping fund 56 creative teacher-led initiatives that support family learning.
