Children's Hospital Colorado Unveils State-of-the-Art Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Center

Children's Hospital Colorado Launches New Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Center

Children's Hospital Colorado has officially inaugurated its latest facility—the Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Center—located in Highlands Ranch. This cutting-edge center aims to serve pediatric orthopedic patients and competitive youth athletes, providing a comprehensive range of services including expert clinical care, therapy, imaging services, and dedicated sports medicine programs. A key highlight of this center is the flagship sports performance program designed to elevate young athletes.

Suzy Jaeger, the senior vice president and chief patient experience and access officer at Children's Colorado, expressed excitement over this new venue. She highlighted that this center marks a significant step forward in their commitment to delivering outstanding specialty care for children and adolescents. By consolidating the expertise of orthopedic and sports medicine professionals, therapists, and performance specialists in one location, the center offers a streamlined and supportive experience for young patients.

Previously, these specialized services were spread across the Children’s Colorado Centennial and South Campus sites. The establishment of the new center will enhance access for families while offering a seamless referral process along with same-day appointment availability.

In the new facility, various programs will be available, including the:
  • - General Orthopedics Program
  • - Sports Medicine Center
  • - Fracture Program
  • - Hand and Upper Extremity Program
  • - Hip Program
  • - Spine Program
  • - Foot and Ankle Program
  • - Cerebral Palsy Program
  • - Sports Nutrition Program
  • - Sports Medicine Physical Therapy Program
  • - Sports Performance Program

Dr. Jay Albright, the surgical director of Sports Medicine at Children's Colorado, emphasized the importance of specialized care for growing bones, muscles, and joints. He remarked that this new center allows for increased proximity to world-class pediatric orthopedic and sports medicine services, thereby promoting healthier, more active lifestyles for children.

The facility features two levels; the upper level houses the clinics dedicated to orthopedic and sports medicine, while the lower level boasts a full-sized gym equipped with a basketball court and sports field. This setup is tailored for training and therapy, allowing young athletes to enhance their strength, movement, and endurance in an environment that acknowledges their unique developmental needs.

The design of the center ensures young athletes receive comprehensive support—covering everything from injury prevention and diagnosis to rehabilitation and recovery. With services uniquely tailored for pediatric needs, the center aspires to make a substantial impact on the ability of youth athletes to not just stay active but also reach their fullest potential.

Starting today at 7 a.m. MT, the center has begun accepting patients and athletes. Individuals interested in learning more about the offered services or in scheduling an appointment can visit the Children's Hospital Colorado website.
