MS Plus One and Seven-Eleven Launch Unique 1-Day Leisure Insurance

Introduction to 1-Day Leisure Sports Insurance

On March 25, 2026, MS Plus One Small Amount Short-Term Insurance co., a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Company, teamed up with Seven-Eleven Japan and Seven Financial Services to launch the innovative "1-Day Leisure Sports Insurance". This insurance product has been created to cater to a growing trend in leisure activities, while also addressing the increased risks associated with them, such as heatstroke and injury.

Rising Risks in Leisure Activities

In recent years, people have been increasingly enjoying diverse leisure activities such as camping, barbecuing, attending music festivals, and watching sports. However, with a rise in temperatures and corresponding higher risks of heat-related illnesses, it has become more crucial to have appropriate coverage. This product is unique as it is the first of its kind in the industry offering one-day insurance that covers injuries, liabilities, and heat-related ailments.

Simplified Access through Seven-Eleven

With 21,927 locations across Japan as of February 2026, Seven-Eleven stands as the largest convenience store network in the country, playing a significant role in supporting people's everyday lives. The adoption process for the new insurance is seamless; customers can access a dedicated webpage via their smartphones, input the required information, and choose from various payment methods including in-store at Seven-Eleven.

The aim is to alleviate concerns regarding accidents and injuries during leisure and sports activities, thus promoting a healthier, more secure environment for everyone to enjoy their free time.

Three Basic Plans Available

The insurance provides six specific plans depending on the type of leisure activity:
1. General Sports and Leisure
2. Golf
3. Hiking and Light Mountaineering
4. Skiing and Snowboarding
5. Camping and BBQ
6. Festivals and Sports Events

Each plan has options that include coverage for heatstroke, which will be available from late March to early November, and plans without heatstroke coverage that are available year-round.

Comprehensive Coverage and Fees

Coverage includes provisions for death benefits, hospitalization, liability expenses, as well as rescue costs, hole-in-one and albatross expenses, and compensation for heatstroke and food poisoning—providing peace of mind while participating in various activities.

Insurance coverage is available for one day (24 hours) and can extend up to a maximum of seven days, with fees ranging from 300 to 500 yen per day.

Easy Application Process

Joining is as easy as accessing the dedicated webpage. Users can apply via smartphones or PCs. Following the details provided on the website and through materials distributed at Seven-Eleven stores, the process should take no more than five minutes. Customers can apply for coverage on the same day they plan to engage in activities.

Key Features of the New Insurance Product

1. Broad Coverage: First of its kind in the industry, covering injuries, liabilities, heatstroke, and food poisoning risks.
2. Quick Application: Can be completed in about five minutes via smartphone.
3. Group Coverage Options: Participants can buy for multiple members, such as family or colleagues, in a single transaction.
4. Affordable Pricing: Daily rates between 300 and 500 yen, which allows flexibility depending on the customer's needs.

Company Background

MS Plus One is backed by the MS&AD Insurance Group, with Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Company being its sole investor. The new insurance offering is a significant move in response to evolving customer needs and trends in leisure safety.

In summary, the introduction of 1-Day Leisure Sports Insurance represents a proactive step in addressing the safety and wellness of individuals engaging in various leisure activities, ultimately fostering a more secure and enjoyable environment for all.
