On September 2nd, in a commendable effort to support expectant and new parents, Carolina Complete Health hosted Community Baby Showers across six North Carolina communities. Approximately 205 participants attended these engaging events, designed not only to provide resources but also to build a strong community network among families.

Families gathered at Community Connections Centers located in Asheville, Charlotte, Greensboro, Greenville, Lumberton, and Raleigh. At each location, they had the opportunity to meet local organizations and gain access to various resources aimed at promoting healthy pregnancies and effective newborn care.

Lori Keane, the Director of Marketing, Communications and Community Relations at Carolina Complete Health, emphasized the significance of these events, stating, "When families can find trusted health information, community resources, and practical support in one place, it can be easier to know where to turn during pregnancy and a child's early years." This initiative indeed creates a welcoming environment for families to ask questions, connect with organizations, and explore available community resources.

The Community Baby Showers focused on a broad range of topics that are crucial for the well-being of mothers and their infants, including prenatal care, breastfeeding practices, newborn care, adequate nutrition, and even food assistance programs. Additionally, participants learned about the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), further enhancing the support available during critical developmental stages.

Events varied; some included interactive car seat safety demonstrations, home safety education, giveaways, and essential items crucial for new parents. Notably, these initiatives are not limited to Carolina Complete Health plan members but extend their services to all families in the state, demonstrating a commitment to community wellness.
