Fujita Kanko, a pioneer in Japan's tourism industry, is currently executing a renovation strategy across several of its properties as part of its mid-term business plan for 2028, titled "Shine for Tomorrow, to THE FUTURE." The company, known for its notable establishments such as the Gracelee Sapporo and Canal City Fukuoka Washington Hotel, aims to strengthen its revenue through these upgrades. The renovations include converting single rooms to twin rooms at the Gracelee Sapporo to better cater to evolving customer needs, particularly amidst the rising demand for accommodations from both domestic and international tourists.
Renovation Details
At the Gracelee Sapporo, 64 single rooms will be transformed into 32 twin rooms. This change is intended to enhance the usability and comfort of the rooms, thereby providing guests with a more welcoming environment. The adjustments are also aimed at increasing the average room rates by accommodating more guests per room. Alongside this, the hotel plans to upgrade other room features, such as improved lighting, to ensure even greater guest comfort.
In addition to the Gracelee Sapporo, the Canal City Fukuoka Washington Hotel will undergo a comprehensive renovation to mark its 30th anniversary in 2026. This project will involve updating wall coverings and carpets, along with renewing furniture to create a more spacious and comfortable atmosphere. Enhancements are also being made to the lobby area, where automated check-in kiosks and self-service cloakrooms will be introduced. These improvements are designed to streamline customer interactions and elevate service quality.
The Premium Twin Experience
At Ito Kowakien, another flagship property of Fujita Kanko, four out of eight Japanese-Western rooms have been updated to include semi-open-air hot spring baths. The newly remodeled "Premium Twin" rooms have been designed with private bathing areas and deck spaces, allowing guests to relax and escape the hustle and bustle. This luxurious setup caters especially to families with young children and international travelers seeking unique private onsen experiences. With a 20% increase in guests from overseas expected from January to June 2025 compared to the same period in 2024, the interest surrounding Ito Kowakien continues to grow.
Fujita Kanko is dedicated to continuously evolving its service offerings to meet customer demands, with plans to renovate the remaining four rooms at Ito Kowakien this fall, further enhancing their appeal.
