Eclect Announces Well-Being Research Results at International Positive Psychology Congress

Positive Impacts of Eclect's Research on Employee Well-Being

Eclect, a leading CX solutions company headquartered in Setagaya, Tokyo, has made headlines by presenting significant research outcomes at the International Positive Psychology Association’s 2025 World Congress on Positive Psychology in Brisbane, Australia. This research, conducted in collaboration with Hiroshima's Ekke University, focuses on boosting employee well-being from both lifestyle and work style perspectives.

The crux of this research lies in developing an integrated program aimed at enhancing employee well-being and evaluating the transformational processes involved. As organizations implement technological advances and operational reforms, the essence of such transformations fundamentally revolves around 'people'. Should the changes in employee behavior and work styles lag, the effectiveness of reformation remains limited. The active employees leading this transformation, however, continuously strive to improve their lifestyles and work styles.

Notably, Eclect embraces the Solution as a Service business model, facilitating change in customer experiences through technical innovations while also supporting transformations in employee experiences. It is vital, therefore, to explore insights about 'people' at the forefront of research.

Research Aims

The research embarked on two main objectives:
1. To identify the self-directed transformation processes of individuals through an integrated program supporting lifestyle and work improvement.
2. To evaluate the practicality of the transformation process model, particularly in terms of long-term well-being reflecting sustained individual potential.

Key Findings

The primary findings of the study included:
  • - Three Core Processes: Updates to lifestyle and work style are based on three key processes: 'proactive self-regulation', 'collaborative problem-solving', and 'positive emotions and experiences'.
  • - Prerequisites for Change: The aforementioned processes require the foundations of 'cognitive flexibility', 'self-efficacy', and 'value perception of tasks'.
  • - Reflections and Future Focus: Engaging in reflection and orienting towards future goals enhanced individuals' learning experiences, consequently contributing to their long-term increase in well-being.
  • - Program Effectiveness: The developed online program significantly improved participants' subjective well-being, self-efficacy, and aspects of long-term well-being associated with maintaining positive relationships with others.

Detailed Research Methods

The research adopted a sequential mixed-methods approach, dividing into:

Phase 1: Exploratory Qualitative Research (n = 12)

An intensive three-week camp program was held on Osaki Kamijima, located in Hiroshima Prefecture, which facilitated a collaborative, structured lifestyle, education on scientific insights of lifestyle habits, visualizing transformation metrics, and fostering experiential learning processes. Utilizing Modified Grounded Theory Approach (M-GTA), the transformation processes of participants were modeled.

Phase 2: Quantitative Empirical Research (n = 77)

Building upon Phase 1 findings, a five-day online program was designed and implemented. Measurements were taken at four points across psychological well-being, subjective well-being, self-efficacy, cognitive flexibility, task value, stress, positive emotions, self-regulated learning, experience learning, and time perspective. Statistical analyses, including t-tests and path analysis, validated significant changes before and after the program, along with the utility of the transformation process model.

Future Directions

Going forward, the focus will be on extending talent development programs based on the validated transformation process model and developing evaluations concentrated on cognitive flexibility. Plans also include exploring the applicability of this research across varied organizational cultures and industries through enterprise training programs.

Comments from Collaborators

Professor Toshiyuki Yasui, Social System Design Department, Ekke University, emphasized the research’s significance in accumulating scientific knowledge on well-being design derived from those working in IT fields. The opportunity to present findings at this prestigious international academic conference marks a vital step forward in the implementation of well-being Design programs specifically targeted at the IT industry's work context.

Shoji Tsujimoto, CEO of Eclect, noted that the research findings provide scientific evidence supporting their mission of integrating well-being into business operations. He advocates that enhancing employees’ intrinsic growth and well-being, in conjunction with technology adoption, is crucial for achieving genuine innovation in this digital transformation era.

With the backing of the Hiroshima Prefecture's investment promotion subsidy for establishing research and development hubs, this joint research between Eclect and Ekke University sets a precedent for future collaborations aimed at employee well-being and transformation solutions.
