On
October 23, 2026, a groundbreaking seminar will be held in Ueno, Tokyo, focusing on the vibrant inbound markets of Thailand and Indonesia. Organised by
Global Daily, a member of the DAC Group, this event caters to a select audience of
30 companies from various sectors including local governments, DMOs, manufacturers, and tourism businesses. The seminar, titled "
Why Now for Thailand and Indonesia?", promises valuable insights into these growing markets.
Market Expansion
In recent years, Southeast Asian countries have gained significant traction in the inbound tourism sector. According to the
Japan National Tourism Organization's inbound consumption trend survey for 2025, the number of visitors from Thailand reached
1,230,929, representing a
7.3% increase from the previous year, contributing approximately
¥252.7 billion in travel spending (up
11.6%). For Indonesia, a remarkable
637,382 visitors were recorded, a staggering
23.7% surge, resulting in travel expenditures of around
¥130.9 billion, an increase of
18.0%. Notably, projections for the April to June 2026 period indicate a substantial
40.3% year-on-year growth, underscoring Thailand's position as the largest consumer market for inbound tourism and Indonesia’s status as a rapidly growing market.
However, tapping into these opportunities requires tailored marketing strategies that address specific regional characteristics, such as
Muslim-friendly services, engaging
younger demographics, and leveraging local
SNS/KOLs. The upcoming seminar will delve into the latest data, successful promotional case studies, and live testimonials from local key opinion leaders (KOLs), laying out the essential strategies to effectively navigate these thriving markets.
