For the sixth consecutive year, Spire has been honored as one of "America's Most Responsible Companies" by Newsweek, showcasing its dedication in the realms of environmental sustainability, social responsibility, and corporate governance. This recognition, revealed on December 4, 2024, positions Spire at number 252 among the top 600 companies in the nation, an impressive leap from its previous rank of 483 in 2023.

One of the highlights of Spire's 2023 Sustainability Report is its unwavering commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by mid-century. The company has appointed its first Vice President of Sustainability and has established a sustainability council to implement and coordinate sustainability initiatives throughout the organization. Notably, Spire achieved a 4.7% reduction in CO2e emissions compared to the previous year and has successfully reduced methane emissions from its gas utilities by over 51% since 2005, aiming for a 73% reduction by 2035.

Community Contributions through Spire Serves


Spire's community involvement is encapsulated within its Spire Serves initiative, where the company invested over $2.1 million in various organizations across states like Missouri, Alabama, Mississippi, Texas, and Wyoming in fiscal year 2023, bringing the total social investment to more than $6.2 million. The Day for Good Program


In terms of employee engagement, Spire has reported growth in its “Day for Good” initiative, which permits employees to take a paid day off to volunteer at organizations they are passionate about.
