Discovering Everyday Beauty - Farrow & Ball's New Colors
Farrow & Ball, a premier British paint brand, is set to unveil an enchanting collection titled "The Extraordinary Ordinary," featuring 12 meticulously crafted colors designed to transform everyday moments into something truly special. Set to be released in Japan on November 17, 2025, this collection draws inspiration from the hidden beauty found in commonplace scenes and well-loved tools that surround us in our daily lives.
This new palette features rich terracotta, crisp blues, and earth-inspired greens, all crafted with care by skilled artisans. The collection includes nine brand-new shades alongside three beloved archive colors making their first return:
Sap Green,
Broccoli Brown, and
Etruscan Red. Each color tells its own story, capturing the essence of life’s simple yet profound moments.
A Message from Jo Studholme
Farrow & Ball’s color curator, Jo Studholme, expresses her passion for color in our lives. "In recent years, we have rediscovered the joy of living with color. We have been opened to the rich palette that surrounds us daily. Now is the time to celebrate and cherish the treasures of beautiful colors hidden within our everyday experiences. My favorite new color,
Marmelo, named after the quince fruit, evokes warmth and nostalgia, reminding us of cozy breakfasts with buttered toast. Likewise,
Douter, inspired by the soot of traditional candle snuffers and tarnished brass, creates a magical ambiance whether you're hosting a spirited dinner or enjoying a quiet evening."
Reviving Timeless Archive Colors
In a remarkable nod to its 79-year history, the brand is also reviving three archive colors. The return of
Sap Green,
Broccoli Brown, and
Etruscan Red is a testament to Farrow & Ball’s commitment to preserving the charm of colors that have stood the test of time. Charlotte Cosby, the creative director, shares her delight in exploring the archives, noting, "Uncovering treasures within our collection is truly enjoyable. It fills me with excitement that these three beautiful shades will once again take center stage."
The Twelve New Colors
The twelve new colors bring a range of inspirations, from the natural world to domestic life. Each shade is designed to evoke particular feelings and memories:

- - No.312 Dibber: A nurturing green reminiscent of the earth, reflecting the connection with nature in gardening.
- - No.313 Reduced Green: A neutral color that showcases the subtleties of light and perspective, revealing deeper browns and faint greens.
- - No.314 Sizing: This lightly tinted neutral enhances other colors, embodying a crisp and sharp cleanliness akin to laundry starch.
- - No.315 Naperon: A warm terracotta, evoking the familiarity of well-loved pottery and the comfort of everyday cooking.
- - No.316 Marmelo: An earth tone that captures the nostalgic essence of the quince fruit, reminiscent of cozy moments.
- - No.317 Kakelugn: Inspired by traditional Swedish tiled fireplaces, this shade offers a sophisticated, clean take on a beloved color.
