On June 10, 2026, the grand finale of the 10th Huawei ICT Competition took place in Shenzhen, marking a significant milestone. This year, the contest attracted an unprecedented number of participants, with over 220,000 students and educational professionals from more than 2,000 institutions across 100 countries and regions. This record participation makes it the largest competition in its history.

During the awards ceremony, Ritchie (Honghua) Peng, Huawei's President of ICT Strategy and Business Development, highlighted the company’s ongoing commitment to leveraging technology for social good and sustainable development. He emphasized that the innovation competition showcased the value of learning through competition as a means of addressing real-world challenges. Participants from the practical competition and programming contest demonstrated dedication, curiosity, and exceptional technical skills. Furthermore, he announced the introduction of a new development track focused on AI operators, which will enable young developers in mainland China to engage directly with cutting-edge industry technologies through practical tasks in the next competition edition.

Dr. Shafika Isaacs, acting director of the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education, praised the partnership between UNESCO and Huawei, congratulating the participants for their achievements. She indicated that the future of artificial intelligence relies on collaborative efforts among governments, international organizations, academia, and industry. She also pointed out joint initiatives, such as competency-building programs in AI across Arab countries and educational partnerships in Central Asia and the Caucasus. These initiatives aim to strengthen higher education systems and develop skills for the future. According to her, this year's participants showcased their abilities to solve real issues across cultural boundaries, leveraging new technologies and demonstrating both creativity and a responsible attitude toward technology, reflecting the essence of education.

The tenth edition of the Huawei ICT Competition culminated in the recognition of 18 outstanding teams from eight countries, following the completion of the Practical Competition, Innovation Competition, and Programming Contest. Top honors in the practical competition categories were awarded as follows:
  • - Network Track: Teams from Algeria, Brazil, Nigeria, and Shenzhen Polytechnic University.
  • - Cloud Track: Teams from Egypt, Algeria, Kenya, and Central South University of Forestry and Technology.
  • - Computing Track: Teams from Egypt, Dominican Republic, Algeria, and Henan Institute of Economics and Trade.
  • - Ascend AI Track: Shenzhen Polytechnic University.
  • - Innovation Competition: Wuhan University of Technology, Ahmadu Bello University, National University of Singapore, and Fujian Normal University.
  • - Programming Contest: Wuhan Vocational College of Software and Engineering.

Additionally, various special awards were presented during the ceremony. The Women in Tech Award was given to seven all-female teams from Azerbaijan, Nigeria, Kenya, China, and Bahrain, while the Green Development Award went to teams from Ghana and China. Ten students from China qualified directly for the Huawei Future Business Leader Track, and the Most Valuable Instructor Award was given to 16 distinguished instructors from nine countries, including Pakistan, China, Nigeria, Egypt, UAE, Brazil, Thailand, and Turkey. Six teams from Egypt, Brazil, Malaysia, Poland, and Pakistan were recipients of the ICT Competition Online Popularity Award.

Amidst the closing festivities, Huawei also held the AI Accelerating Education Transformation Summit, showcasing solutions such as the ICT Academy AI Course Solution and releasing the ICT Skills Development Insight Report with recommendations tailored for nine countries across Central Asia and the Caucasus. As the demand for specialists in AI, computational technologies, big data analytics, and cybersecurity continues to grow, the Huawei ICT Competition offers students an international platform to develop practical skills, solve real-world problems, and prepare for the digital economy through collaborations between academia and industry alongside shared educational resources.
