Adyen Introduces Two New Payment Terminals for Enhanced Retail Experience

Adyen Expands In-Person Payment Solutions with New Terminals

Adyen, the preferred global financial technology platform for leading companies, has made a significant leap in the payment industry with the introduction of two new state-of-the-art terminals, the S1E4 Pro and S1F4 Pro. This new launch, announced on November 6, 2025, aims to enhance customer experiences across a variety of sectors, including retail, food and beverage, hospitality, and beauty and wellness.

S1E4 Pro: Robust and Reliable

The S1E4 Pro stands out as a mobile point-of-sale device designed for durability and functionality in demanding environments. This all-in-one solution is built to withstand spills and drops, boasting an impressive IP65 certification for dust and water resistance, as well as a fall resistance of up to 1.5 meters. Such features are crucial in busy restaurants and bars where downtime can lead to significant revenue loss.

The device is equipped with a large 6.1-inch display that improves visibility even in low-light situations, ensuring seamless interactions between the merchant and customers. The S1E4 Pro supports a wide array of payment methods, including contactless, chip, magnetic stripe, and QR code scanning, ensuring that all transactions are efficient.

With its robust processor and long-lasting battery, the terminal offers full connectivity options, including 4G and Wi-Fi, allowing merchants to operate without interruptions. Furthermore, it runs on Android 13, enabling users to integrate their existing business applications effectively. This capability streamlines ordering, payment processing, and administrative tasks into one intuitive interface.

S1F4 Pro: Flexible and Portable

On the other hand, the S1F4 Pro is a portable all-in-one device that combines the features of a traditional retail counter terminal with the flexibility needed for mobile transactions. When docked, it serves as a regular POS system, and when removed, it converts into a mobile unit capable of handling transactions right on the sales floor.

The built-in printer of the S1F4 Pro enhances its versatility, allowing businesses to speed up transactions and minimize customer waiting times significantly. The terminal is designed with a generous 6.7-inch screen and features full connectivity options (4G, Wi-Fi, and Ethernet) to support all payment methods and currencies. Like the S1E4 Pro, it runs on Android 13, facilitating efficient order management, payment processing, and loyalty program administration.

Key features of the S1F4 Pro include a high-performance eight-core processor, a long-lasting battery life, and integrated QR code scanning, along with front and rear cameras to enrich the customer experience.

Commitment to Customer Experience

Derk Busser, Vice President of Product at Adyen, emphasized the company’s commitment to enhancing the in-person payment experience through these updates. He noted that the devices are designed based on direct feedback from customers and aim to address critical gaps in the existing offerings. By catering to distinct industry needs, Adyen delivers powerful and reliable tools to suit operational demands across various sectors.

Availability

The S1E4 and S1F4 Pro terminals will be available for order in Europe, the UK, North America, New Zealand, and the UAE starting in the first quarter of 2026. They are set to launch in Mexico, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Singapore in the second quarter of 2026.
