Boeing Grants $125K to Think Together for STEM Education Expansion in California

Boeing's Generous Grant to Think Together

Boeing has stepped up to support educational initiatives in California by granting $125,000 to Think Together, a division of Think Education. This funding will enhance the nonprofit's existing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) curriculum and Workforce Readiness and Employment Program (WREP). As a result, this initiative aims to improve educational pathways for K-12 students across 72 schools in Los Angeles and Orange counties.

Since its inception, Think Together has made significant strides in providing educational resources to over 5,880 students in under-resourced communities. With the renewed funding from Boeing, which has amassed over $700,000 in total contributions over seven years, the program can now offer high-quality curriculum and resources focused on STEM and workforce readiness.

The Importance of STEM and Workforce Readiness

Mark Taylor, Boeing’s Senior Director of State Advocacy and Global Engagement, emphasized the critical nature of education initiatives linking STEM with workforce readiness. He stated, "Supporting programs that connect STEM learning with workforce readiness helps students build the skills, confidence, and curiosity needed to pursue future careers in aerospace, technology, and engineering." Taylor’s belief underscores the importance of exposing students to hands-on learning experiences that inspire them to become innovators and problem solvers.

Through this partnership, participating schools will gain access to essential technology equipment and engaging STEM curriculum, allowing students to explore various career pathways such as computer science, aeronautical engineering, and applied technology.

Hands-On Learning Experiences

Students at Think Together will engage in numerous hands-on STEM projects, such as robotics, physical computing, and dynamics of flight. These diverse activities are designed to provide practical applications and help students strengthen their information, media, and technology literacy as they connect their learning across subjects—from math and science to engineering.

Furthermore, high school students enrolled in the WREP will benefit from enhanced career readiness opportunities. They will participate in job application coaching and interview preparations while also getting the chance to experience work-based learning through micro-internships. Notably, students will have the chance to tour Boeing facilities, providing an up-close look at the aerospace industry and potential career paths.

Empowering Future Generations

Randy Barth, founder and CEO of Think Education, passionately explained, "In order to provide students with access to the full range of opportunities available to them, Think Together is committed to introducing a variety of career pathways to students." By aligning with corporations like Boeing, the organization equips students with not only the necessary skills and exposure but also the confidence to excel in their future endeavors.

Founded over 25 years ago, Think Together has continuously pushed for educational opportunity and excellence, aiming to change the odds for hundreds of thousands of students in California each year. With an extensive range of programs, including afterschool and early learning initiatives, it has carved a niche in revolutionizing education within local communities.

Boeing's Commitment to Education

As a leading global aerospace company and a major exporter for the U.S., Boeing has repeatedly showcased its commitment to community impact and sustainability. By investing in education and workforce development, Boeing not only addresses immediate needs but also lays the groundwork for future innovations and economic opportunities within the fields of aerospace, technology, and engineering.

In conclusion, the $125,000 grant from Boeing demonstrates a robust commitment to fostering educational advancement. The collaborative efforts between Boeing and Think Together represent a vital step toward nurturing the next generation of thinkers and industry leaders, ultimately striving to create a well-prepared workforce that can meet the challenges of tomorrow.
