On June 27, 2023, Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) held the 36th Aviation Safety Information Analysis Committee meeting to discuss safety in air transport, resulting in the release of a mid-year report for FY2024.
Overview of the Aviation Safety Information Analysis Committee
Established under Article 111-4 of the Civil Aeronautics Act, Japanese air transport operators are mandated to report any incidents that could impede the safe operation of aircraft to the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. In line with Article 111-5 of the same act, the Minister is required to compile and disseminate safety-related information annually. This includes a mid-year report after the first half of the fiscal year, which is prepared by the committee that meets biannually to ensure proper disclosure of safety information.
Note: The term "Safety Information" refers to data related to aviation accidents, serious incidents, and other situations that pose a risk to safety.
