A Sweet Collaboration with Local Students

Ebina Marui, operated by Marui Co., Ltd., is proud to announce a unique collaboration with sixth graders from Oya Elementary School to release a new product: a limited edition, sweet strawberry curry made from local vegetables. This initiative is part of the 'Building a Brighter Future Together: A Colorful Ebina City' project, which aims to foster community connections.

The students and Ebina Marui began this collaboration last year when they embarked on a project focused on supporting local farmers, which included selling locally-grown vegetables and creating promotional materials. Building on this experience, the sixth graders set out to explore what more they could do to support local agriculture while promoting the quality and flavors of Ebina's produce. Their discussions led to the exciting development of their sweet strawberry curry, designed to be enjoyed by all ages.

The curry is made using local ingredients, including sweet potatoes, potatoes, and carrots, cleverly combined with strawberry puree to enhance the flavor and cater to younger palates. This initiative not only allows the students to learn about the importance of local agriculture and the processes involved in bringing food from farms to tables, but it also highlights how their efforts can translate into a product available to the community.

The 'Building a Brighter Future' Project

This collaboration is part of a broader educational program that began in the comprehensive learning sessions at Oya Elementary School. The children's vision is clear: they want to make Ebina a more delightful place and create a promising future for their community.

With the support of local agricultural stakeholders, including the Ebina City Agricultural Support Center, students have gained insights into the agricultural landscape of Ebina and the charms that local farming holds. The project also collaborates with welfare initiatives, connecting agriculture with social care through partnerships, such as that with Kanagawa Selp Center, showcasing a multifaceted approach to creating impactful products.

Ebina Marui is committed to extending the students' vision beyond the classroom and into the community. They have been actively involved in guiding product planning, store displays, and creating spaces for collaboration within the region. This support ensures that the students can see their academic efforts transform into real-life applications that benefit the local area. The sweet strawberry curry has been co-produced with Makubyou Co., Ltd., adding an extra layer of partnership to its origin.

Special Launch Event and Benefits

To celebrate the launch of the sweet strawberry curry, Ebina Marui will host a special event from February 11th to 15th, 2024, at their first-floor food event space. Not only will the curry be available for purchase, but there are also exciting benefits for early buyers!

• - Event Special 1: From February 11th, those who purchase two packs of the sweet strawberry curry will receive a free package of Fukujinzuke (Japanese pickles), while supplies last.
• - Event Special 2: On February 14th and 15th only, customers who buy four packs will receive an original design clear file created by the sixth graders at Oya Elementary School, limited to the first 100 customers.
