Delta Community Credit Union Announces $25,000 Scholarship Program for College Students

Delta Community Credit Union Announces Annual Scholarship Program

Delta Community Credit Union, Georgia's largest credit union, is excited to announce the opening of applications for its 21st Annual College Scholarship Program, commencing on February 1, 2026. This initiative aims to empower young individuals by granting a total of $25,000 in scholarships to support their educational aspirations.

Scholarship Overview

Each year, five exceptional students will be awarded $5,000 to assist with their college expenses. The selection process emphasizes not only academic achievements but also community involvement and the ability to articulate personal financial experiences through an essay. These criteria reflect Delta Community’s commitment to fostering financial literacy and responsible decision-making among the youth.

Application Process

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants are required to complete an online personal finance course provided by Delta Community’s Financial Education Center. Following this, students must submit a written response to the prompt: "Describe a personal or household financial experience that shaped your perspective on money. Then, using what you learned in the Finances for College Students module, explain how you plan to apply those insights to make informed financial decisions during college and into adulthood."

Commitment to Financial Education

Hank Halter, the CEO of Delta Community, expressed that the program’s purpose goes beyond simply offering financial aid. He stated, "Delta Community is committed to helping consumers of all ages develop smart, sustainable personal finance habits. This year's essay question reflects our desire to equip young adults with critical insights to manage their first years of independence." The credit union has proudly invested in students who exhibit a dedication to community service and a clear understanding of financial responsibility for over two decades.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements to be eligible:
  • - Be a member of Delta Community Credit Union.
  • - Be pursuing a first-time undergraduate degree.
  • - Be enrolled full-time at an accredited U.S. college or university for the fall semester of 2026-2027.

The 2026 scholarship application must be completed online by 5 p.m. ET on March 1, 2026. Award recipients will be announced in early April, allowing winners to streamline their preparations for the upcoming academic year.

Additional Opportunities

In addition to the annual scholarships, Delta Community supports students by offering scholarships specifically for those attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The organization is also committed to enhancing financial awareness by providing hundreds of free educational classes across metro Atlanta via its Financial Education Center.
