Seatrium and Karpowership Strengthen Partnership with Latest FSRU Project

On October 5, 2026, Seatrium Limited and Karpowership revealed the continuation of their successful collaboration with the announcement of their ninth Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU) conversion project named LNGT Akdeniz. With this significant development, the companies look to enhance their capabilities in the LNG-to-Power sector, further solidifying their longstanding partnership.

The recent project comes on the heels of the successful sail-away of LNGT Türkiye, marking a series of achievements in energy solutions that began in 2018. Seatrium and Karpowership have already delivered seven FSRUs, showcasing their commitment to providing reliable and flexible energy solutions in a world where energy security is paramount. The new FSRU will be part of Karpowership's energy transition initiative, Kinetics, which aims to expand its LNG fleet.

The announcement of LNGT Akdeniz marks the second unit in their new-generation FSRU series, underscoring Seatrium's standing as a leader in floating LNG infrastructure. Featuring a remarkable regasification capacity of up to 600 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd), LNGT Akdeniz will play a crucial role in ensuring a reliable supply of cleaner energy.

The process of converting LNGT Akdeniz from an LNG carrier into a fully operational FSRU is scheduled to kick off in the first quarter of 2027. Seatrium's responsibilities will encompass engineering, conversion, integration, installation, and commissioning of the necessary regasification systems. This state-of-the-art FSRU will significantly bolster LNG import and regasification capabilities, driving forth energy security in targeted markets.

Furthermore, the project is part of a broader Letter of Intent (LOI) established previously, which also includes plans for three other FSRU conversions and the possible integration of up to six new-generation Powerships.
