Terra Charge and Komeri to Launch 120kW Fast Chargers Across 27 Stores

Terra Charge Partners with Komeri to Expand EV Charging Network

Terra Charge, a leading provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure based in Tokyo, has announced a significant initiative in collaboration with Komeri Co., a prominent home improvement retailer located in Niigata Prefecture. This partnership will see the installation of 120kW fast EV chargers at 27 Komeri Power locations, set to commence operations on February 16, 2026. This endeavor aims to bolster the growing demand for EVs and the necessary charging facilities that come with them.

The Need for Enhanced Charging Infrastructure

As the world progresses toward a carbon-neutral future by 2050, the rise of electric vehicles and the expansion of EV charging infrastructure have become urgent. The Japanese government has set ambitious targets, including a plan to establish 300,000 charging stations by 2030. In this context, home improvement centers play a vital role as convenient stops for consumers, offering an opportunity for EV drivers to recharge their vehicles while shopping for daily necessities or DIY projects.

By placing EV chargers in strategic locations, Terra Charge aims to increase the efficiency of time spent shopping, allowing customers to utilize their shopping hours for charging their vehicles. This advancement not only enhances convenience for the shoppers but also supports the broader objective of promoting EV adoption and contributing to a decarbonized society.

Details of the Installation

Terra Charge will be installing a total of 27 fast EV chargers across various Komeri stores. Each charging station will feature two charging ports, with a maximum output of 90kW for a single port, ensuring that multiple vehicles can charge simultaneously.

The selected Komeri locations across Niigata, Yamagata, Akita, and other regions are as follows:
  • - Komeri Power Kamo Store, Niigata
  • - Komeri Power Sanjo Yokkaichi Store, Niigata
  • - Komeri Power Ojiya Store, Niigata
  • - Komeri Power Tokamachi Store, Niigata
  • - Komeri Power Kamiyama Store, Yamagata
  • - and many more across various prefectures.

This initiative represents a major step in improving charging infrastructure, making it easier for EV owners to access power while handling their day-to-day activities.

A User-Friendly Charging Experience

In tandem with the installation of charging stations, Terra Charge has upgraded its EV charging app, which is designed to enhance user experience significantly. The revamped application, available on both iOS and Android, now features improved usability and intuitive design, allowing users to easily find and access charging stations. Customers can simply scan a QR code for immediate access, eliminating the need for app downloads in guest mode, thereby simplifying the process.

Looking ahead, Terra Charge is committed to expanding its EV charging capabilities across various settings including commercial facilities, residential areas, and tourist attractions. Special emphasis will be placed on locations like home centers where vehicles are frequently used. Through collaboration with local businesses, governments, and partner companies, Terra Charge aims to optimize charging infrastructure and contribute to building a sustainable mobility society.
