Moe Nakamura's 'Connect Connect' Exhibition
The Pola Museum Annex in Ginza, Tokyo, is currently showcasing the much-anticipated exhibition 'connect connect' by the renowned artist Moe Nakamura. This marks her first exhibition in four years, presenting about 10 artworks, including new pieces, and focusing on the theme of connections—links between artworks, memories, and the future.
Moe Nakamura, who graduated from the Joshibi University of Art and Design’s Graduate School in 2012, has exhibited extensively both at home and internationally. She is celebrated for her unique approach to wood sculpture, utilizing Japanese cypress to depict inner forms, snippets of distant memories, and motifs drawn from nature. Her works are characterized by delicate expressions and a serene presence that breathe a distinctive life into them, inviting viewers to reflect on their own memories and evoking a sense of nostalgia.
This exhibition comes at a poignant time when the COVID-19 pandemic has fundamentally altered social interactions. With the importance of community and relationships emphasized anew, 'connect connect' provides a platform for visitors to explore their own connections. The displayed pieces, including wood carvings and two-dimensional works, encourage viewers to contemplate the links that shape their lives and experiences.
