As the automotive industry increasingly seeks to diversify its leadership, NAMAD’s annual award provides a platform to honor women who have showcased outstanding commitment and influence. Amy Counts has exemplified these qualities throughout her extensive career, spanning over three decades.

A Distinguished Career Begins


Counts’ journey started in 1996 when she joined The Reynolds and Reynolds Company. During her 17-year tenure there, she received several accolades, including inductions into the 300 Sales Club and the title of Variable Operations Specialist of the Year for the Central Area Market in 2012. These awards highlight her sales acumen and operational expertise, contributing significantly to her professional growth.

In 2015, Counts transitioned to Wise F&I, where her role has been pivotal in fostering relationships with dealers and partners in the industry. Dedication to Education and Community Service


Beyond her impressive professional achievements, Counts has shown unwavering dedication to education and community service. From 2017 to 2023, she was a member of the Missouri State University Board of Governors, becoming the first woman of color to chair the board in 2022. Her leadership in this position has inspired many aspiring leaders in the community.

Counts has also pioneered philanthropic initiatives such as the creation of the Amelia Counts Scholarship and a commitment to fund the Amelia Counts Chair in the College of Natural and Applied Sciences. Her commitment to fostering education is evident through her ongoing service on various boards, including the Missouri State University Foundation Board of Trustees.

A Strong Advocate for Women's Leadership


As a strong advocate for women's leadership, Counts has been involved with the Bears WIN (Women's Impact Network) since 2022 and is set to assume the role of Chair this year. She also played a significant role in the Missouri State University Presidential Search Committee and was honored as the Volunteer of the Year by the Missouri State University Alumni Association in 2024.

Her commitment to community wellbeing extends to the St. Louis area, where she has dedicated 17 years to the Board of St. Louis ArtWorks, an organization aimed at empowering diverse teens through art and creativity. Her participation in FOCUS St. Louis underscores her commitment to creating a thriving and equitable region for all citizens.
