Popcorn Project Showcases Ota City’s Charm
From February 6 to 8, 2026, the Haneda Airport Garden in Ota City will celebrate local innovation with a unique popcorn experience developed by students from Minosen Junior High School. Located directly connected to Haneda Airport's third terminal, this facility aims to create a strong link between local culture and international travelers.
A Project Rooted in Local Community
This initiative is part of the “Future Creation Project” in Ota City, designed to empower students to actively engage with their community and cultivate innovative solutions. The students from Minosen Junior High School have taken part in every step of the popcorn-making process, from conceptualization to product development and marketing strategies. They explored various aspects of the local charm and how to effectively convey that through their popcorn products.
Collaborative Efforts
Under the guidance and production expertise of Bakumei Co., Ltd., which specializes in community events and educational programs, the students engaged in hands-on learning. They received support from Crisp Point Co., Ltd., which operates the Caramel Popcorn Company in Yuki-ganashi, to help turn their ideas into delicious realities. Moreover, representatives from Haneda Airport Garden visited classrooms to provide insights about the venue’s characteristics, visitor trends, and tips for promotional strategies, ensuring that students received practical guidance pertinent to their task.
Bringing the Community Together
The Haneda Airport Garden aspires to be more than just a transport hub; it seeks to foster close relationships with the local community while showcasing the distinct charm of Ota City. This popcorn project is anticipated to serve as a platform for interaction, allowing visitors to experience the spirit of the students and the local area through their culinary creations.
