ChangAn Automobile's Dubhe 2.0: Pioneering Smart Mobility in Europe
ChangAn Automobile, a leading name in low-carbon mobility technology, recently marked a significant milestone in its journey towards sustainable transportation in Europe. During a brand launch event held in Germany on March 21, 2025, the company unveiled its latest energy and intelligent driving technologies, aligning with the ambitious objectives of its Dubhe 2.0 plan.
Since the rollout of the Dubhe 1.0 initiative in 2018, ChangAn has consistently been at the forefront of innovation in the smart vehicle sector. This ambitious plan has already resulted in remarkable achievements, including the deployment of 100% connectivity in all new vehicle models since 2020. Moreover, the company has integrated advanced driver assistance systems across its product line and has successfully set the standard for autonomous driving technology by achieving L3 certification within China.
Part of ChangAn’s vision under the Dubhe 2.0 plan is to revolutionize smart mobility by ensuring that vehicles are not only intelligent but also deeply understanding and responsive to user needs. This involves a dual strategy that embraces independent innovation alongside collaborative development. As such, the focus is sharply aimed at creating "smart, considerate, and intuitive vehicles powered by AI."
The plan covers four significant advancements in smart mobility solutions, addressing the rising demand in Europe for low-emission, efficient transportation alternatives. Starting in 2025, ChangAn plans to cease the development of non-intelligent vehicles entirely, reinforcing its commitment to a total transformation towards smart mobility. In line with this pledge, the company is amplifying its investments in cutting-edge research and development, particularly in next-generation battery technology.
One of its most exciting innovations is the solid-state battery, which promises a staggering energy density of 400 Wh/kg and an impressive range exceeding 1,500 kilometers on a full charge. Initially developed and tested in China, these batteries are also being designed to enhance safety, with AI-driven remote diagnostics reducing battery-related risks by 70%.
By the end of the year, the company anticipates showcasing a functional prototype of its solid-state battery, followed by installation and verification plans set for 2026, with mass production expected to kick off in 2027.
In addition, ChangAn has developed a cutting-edge Software Defined Access (SDA) architecture, which is currently entering mass production alongside its new CHANG-AN E07 model. Backed by a global R&D team of 13,000 experts from over 30 countries, ChangAn is leveraging advanced technologies to deliver smart and sustainable mobility solutions across the globe.
One of the highlights from the launch event was the introduction of the DEEPAL S07 in Europe, equipped with advanced features to enhance user comfort and security. This vehicle boasts a 15.6-inch adjustable touchscreen, supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and includes an augmented reality heads-up display (AR-HUD). Safety enhancements include a 360-degree camera system, a driving recorder, and features to facilitate gesture recognition and customizable scene modes for a seamless user experience.
As ChangAn makes its formidable entrance into the European market with these intelligent technologies, the company is unwavering in its commitment to promote low-carbon sustainable mobility, ensuring it stands at the forefront of the future transportation landscape with technological innovation. In doing so, ChangAn aims to provide efficient and intelligent ecological transportation solutions that resonate with European consumers.
