Jaguar Transport Holdings Expands Its Network with Railroad Acquisitions

In a strategic move aimed at bolstering its operations in the transportation sector, Jaguar Transport Holdings, LLC, has officially announced its acquisition of the Columbia Basin Railroad (CBRW) and the Central Washington Railroad (CWA). Beginning on August 27, 2025, Jaguar will take over operations of these vital rail lines, following the successful completion of the acquisition and receiving the necessary approvals from the Surface Transportation Board (STB).

Stu Towner, CEO of Jaguar Transport Holdings, expressed enthusiasm about this significant addition to the company. He noted, "We are excited to welcome the Columbia Basin Railroad and Central Washington Railroad into Jaguar. The Temple family and their team have transformed good railroads into great businesses by prioritizing safe, reliable service for their employees and customers, which in turn has allowed them to invest in and support the communities they serve."

This acquisition marks a pivotal moment for Jaguar as it recognizes Washington's rich history in transportation and trade and its ongoing importance to the economy. The Columbia Basin and Central Washington railroads operate a combined 177-mile network crucial for connecting agricultural producers, industrial shippers, and local businesses to broader national rail systems. This connection ensures efficient access to domestic markets and key Pacific Northwest ports.

The Columbia Basin Railroad interchanges with BNSF at Connell, WA, while the Central Washington Railroad connects with BNSF in Yakima and Gibbon, facilitating smooth operations and logistical efficiency for its clients. Towner emphasized the disciplined approach Jaguar takes towards acquisitions, highlighting the intrinsic value of the existing infrastructure, dedicated workforce, and an expanding customer base associated with the newly acquired railroads.

Brig Temple, the outgoing owner and President of CBRW and CWA, shared his confidence in Jaguar's capability to uphold the legacy of these railroads. He remarked, "Over the years, these railroads have played an important role in supporting the local customers across central Washington. We couldn't be more confident in Jaguar's ability to carry that legacy forward and take these railroads to the next level. Their professionalism and care, combined with a commitment to safety, reliability, and relationship-driven investment in commercial growth, will not only serve our customers well but also strengthen the economy of the region we proudly call home."

With the completion of this acquisition, Jaguar Transport Holdings elevates its position in the market as it now operates 13 short line railroads, 13 transload locations, and six industrial parks spread across 12 states. This expansion underscores its commitment to being a trusted partner for freight customers and a dedicated employer within the communities it serves.
