GOOD PLACE Unveils Volume 17 of 'SUSUMORE'
GOOD PLACE, a construction company that focuses on creating better spaces through renovations, office construction, and outsourcing back-office operations, has released the 17th volume of its sustainability communication magazine,
SUSUMORE. This issue was made available on the company's corporate website on May 2025, presenting the various sustainability initiatives undertaken by the company and illustrating its commitment to environmental and social responsibilities.
'SUSUMORE' serves as an annual publication that compiles the company’s sustainability activities aimed at addressing current social issues. Over the years, GOOD PLACE has evolved its approach from CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) activities to CSV (Creating Shared Value) initiatives and now to broader sustainability efforts. In light of the escalating environmental challenges and shifting landscapes around us, the company is dedicated to continuously emphasizing the importance of sustainability.
Highlights from SUSUMORE Vol. 17
Eco Certification Rate Surges to 95%
A notable achievement highlighted in this edition is that 95.3% of GOOD PLACE employees have obtained the
eco test certification, which reflects their commitment to considering environmental impacts in their daily operations. This certification, administered by the Tokyo Chamber of Commerce and Industry, is part of GOOD PLACE's endeavor to ensure that each employee promotes sustainability.
Comprehensive CO2 Emissions Assessment
Since 2022, GOOD PLACE has embarked on the
MORE SUSTAINABLE PROJECT to evaluate the total CO2 emissions across its supply chain. In the fiscal year 2023, the company successfully reduced its emissions to 13,513 tons from 36,391 tons the previous year. This significant reduction can be attributed to an increased focus on renovation projects which produce lower CO2 emissions compared to new constructions. The company aims to continue its efforts in reducing emissions through expanding renovation projects and utilizing sustainable materials.
REAL TALK with Kenichi Okada, CEO of Amita
The volume features an insightful discussion with Kenichi Okada, CEO of Amita Inc., a company known for its pioneering work in resource cycling and environmental initiatives. Okada emphasizes the crucial role of sustainability in modern business practices, sharing his insights into their
MEGURU STATION®, a resource recovery station that promotes community engagement around sustainability.
Climate Change Workshop Participation
To deepen their understanding of climate change, GOOD PLACE's sustainability promotion division participated in the
Climate Fresk Workshop led by Codo Advisory. This engaging workshop, based on the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) reports, offered a game-oriented approach to learning the intricate relationships and impacts of climate change. The outcomes of this workshop encouraged everyone at GOOD PLACE to recognize their individual roles in contributing to sustainability.
Case Study: THE GOAT AWAJI
Another highlight from the magazine is the case study of
THE GOAT AWAJI, a luxury accommodation facility that was thoughtfully refurbished from a 35-year-old building previously used as a resort. Designed to provide a dreamy escape for visitors to Awaji Island, this facility includes two newly constructed villas, offering spacious living areas, bedrooms, and luxurious amenities like a sauna and jacuzzi. The design philosophy centers on offering guests an extraordinary experience away from the urban hustle.
Showcase of Active SDGs Initiatives
GOOD PLACE also presented various projects that align with the SDGs. These include:
- - Recruit Kumamoto Base: Utilizing traditional Kumamoto tiles for finishes, celebrating heritage while integrating nature.
- - Chiharadai TENT: A complex facility aimed at enhancing community interaction and promoting health through recreational parks.
