After product replenishments, employees would manually check shelves for any discrepancies in systems—an often time-consuming process plagued by inaccuracies due to staff shortages and varying levels of employee experience. Delays in correcting inventory errors could leave shelves empty, impacting sales and customer satisfaction.

Realizing the need for improvement, Albert sought to test automated solutions following a successful rollout of autonomous floor-cleaning robots powered by Brain Corp. The primary goal was to evaluate if AI-driven shelf scanning technology could effectively operate in real-world retail environments to tackle existing operational deficiencies.

The results from the pilot program have been promising. The AI-powered scanning robots were able to deliver unprecedented accuracy, consistently achieving performance levels in the high 90 percent range. This impressive accuracy surpassed the predefined baseline target of 90% in identifying products and recognizing pricing tags or exceptions. Interestingly, the scanning technology's reliability improved with each use, highlighting the efficacy of AI in enhancing operational processes.

Ivana Stastnikova, a leader in store operations at Albert, noted, "The clarity and consistency of the data we gathered allowed us to swiftly identify errors, such as outdated price tags, enabling us to implement immediate corrections."
