Second Street's 'Great Reverse Weave Exhibition' Returns After Four Years
Second Street, a subsidiary of GEO Holdings Corporation based in Nagoya, Japan, is set to host its long-awaited pop-up event, the 'Great Reverse Weave Exhibition'. This exciting gathering will take place from November 8 to November 9, 2025, at the MATERIAL event space in Koenji, Tokyo. This marks the fourth iteration of this event since its inception in 2019.
The 'Reverse Weave' technique, developed by the American sportswear brand Champion in 1934, is renowned for its innovative approach to manufacturing sweatshirts. By weaving the fabric in the opposite direction, it prevents vertical shrinkage typically associated with washing. The addition of highly elastic ribbing and expansion gussets enhances flexibility and comfort, making these items sought-after collectibles.
This year's exhibition will provide vintage fashion enthusiasts a unique opportunity to purchase approximately 900 carefully curated 'Reverse Weave' products from Second Street outlets across Japan. The items on offer span a wide range of designs, manufacturing years, and sizes, catering specifically to those interested in sustainability and unique fashion styles.
The rise in popularity of second-hand clothing is attributed to increasing awareness of sustainability and a shift towards valuing individuality, especially among younger generations. Items that exhibit vintage characteristics, such as varying label designs and blends of materials from different manufacturing periods, attract dedicated collectors. The rarity of certain vintage pieces often leads to high market values, reinforcing Second Street's mission to promote the appeal of used clothing by leveraging its extensive stock and expert knowledge.
