Introduction
The world is entering an era where individuals need to rethink their identities and roles as they reach their 40s to 60s. The term “mid-seniors,” generally referring to those aged 45 to 65, is increasingly becoming relevant in discussions about the future of work and life. Recognizing this, Enfactory Co., Ltd., based in Chiyoda, Tokyo, has announced the launch of a new community initiative called LIFE SHIFT GARDEN. This program aims to provide valuable experiences and learning opportunities for mid-seniors through collaboration with various organizations.
Launch Details
Starting June 1, 2025, LIFE SHIFT GARDEN will offer trial experiences in side jobs and cross-border engagements, alongside its Teamlancer Enterprise service. The program will begin as a trial service involving 11 companies with approximately 100 participants. This initiative aims to explore the valuable community services that can be developed for the mid-senior demographic before its official launch in April 2026.
A Changing Narrative
The concept of “mid-seniors” is evolving. Traditionally seen as a transitional phase from active employment to retirement, this period is now viewed as an opportunity for new challenges and career shifts. With the backdrop of longer life expectancy, individuals in this age group are increasingly seeking second and third careers to harness their potential and redefine their life trajectories.
LIFE SHIFT GARDEN caters to this need by creating a community that facilitates extensive networking, diverse learning experiences, and meaningful engagement opportunities. It provides a platform for participants to connect with like-minded individuals and organizations, fostering mutual support and growth.
Community Activities
Participants in LIFE SHIFT GARDEN will engage in various activities over a span of ten months, from June 2025 to March 2026. The program will be conducted on an online platform called Teamlancer, designed to streamline collaboration and knowledge sharing among members.
Guidance Initiatives
A special guidance program will help participants visualize their “transformation assets.” Workshops utilizing the Transformation Asset Assessment tool, provided by Life Shift Japan Co., Ltd., will support team-building exercises and individual development.
Team Structure
Participants will be organized into teams consisting of 6 to 8 members from different companies. Regular meetings will facilitate the sharing of activities and foster a stimulating environment for encouragement and collaboration. At the launch in June, around 100 participants will assemble into 14 teams, supported by qualified facilitators, including career consultants, for successful onboarding.
Project Initiatives
Participants will have the opportunity to pursue self-initiated projects based on their interests, ranging from entrepreneurial ventures and new employment models to lifestyle changes and literacy enhancement in health and finance. These projects aim to harness the collective knowledge and experiences of the participants, enabling them to explore new possibilities in their lives.
Seminars and Workshops
The community will host weekly online seminars featuring guest speakers and discussions with life shifters—individuals who have successfully navigated career transitions. Attendees will enjoy free access to these sessions, enhancing their learning experience and expanding their perspectives.
The inaugural seminar will be held on June 26, featuring Kazuhira Fujiwara, an advocate for educational reform.
Trial Experiences
Businesses that resonate with the vision of LIFE SHIFT GARDEN will provide various trial experiences, allowing participants to try their hand at activities like internships, cross-border training, and simulations for entrepreneurship—all at an approachable cost. This collaborative approach aims to expand the range of unique experiences available to mid-seniors in the future.
In addition, networking events and one-on-one mentoring sessions with career consultants will be organized to encourage deeper connections among participants.
Future Engagement
While the initial cohort of 11 companies and 100 participants forms the backbone of this trial service, there will be opportunities for additional companies to join. From November 2025 to March 2026, LIFE SHIFT GARDEN will be opening its doors for a second round of company entries.
Looking Ahead
The ethos of LIFE SHIFT GARDEN mirrors the concept of “Com-Post.” It aspires to cultivate an enriching environment where each participant can thrive—growing roots, flourishing, and ultimately bearing fruit. As the community prepares for its formal launch in April 2026, it invites more organizations to contribute, creating an inclusive network committed to empowering mid-seniors across Japan.
