SSP International Expands Its Programming Team for Enhanced STEM Education

New Team Members and Their Roles

Dr. Roisin Corcoran - As the Vice President of Educational Research and Evaluation, Dr. Corcoran will leverage her extensive background in psychology and education to design and evaluate educational programs. Her past experience includes significant academic appointments at institutions like Yale University and Johns Hopkins University. Her dual degrees in Physical Education and Mathematics and her PhD in Education equip her to effectively measure the impact of SSPI’s initiatives on the educational outcomes of participants.

Dr. Emaly Piecuch - The newly appointed Director of Genomics, Dr. Piecuch comes from The Jackson Laboratory, where she developed engaging genomics curricula for diverse audiences, including high school students and educators. She will oversee the Summer Science Program in Bacterial Genomics, ensuring that students are introduced to the latest in genomic science through carefully curated content and an inclusive learning environment.

Dr. Emily Hawes - Having previously contributed to SSPI as a teaching assistant and site director since 2018, Dr. Hawes now steps into the role of Director of Biochemistry. She will ensure that the Summer Science Program in Biochemistry meets high academic standards by recruiting subject matter experts and maintaining its curriculum's integrity.

Dr. Nico Adams - Recently completing his PhD in Astrophysics at the University of Minnesota, Dr. Adams has a passion for outreach and public engagement in science. As the Director of Astrophysics, he will oversee the program's curriculum while ensuring excellent quality through faculty recruitment and guest speaker sessions for the Summer Science Program in Astrophysics.
