Sumitomo Life's 19th ‘Future-Strengthening Parenting Project’ Application Period Begins

Starting from July 7, Sumitomo Life Insurance Company, led by its President Yukitoku Takada, is calling for applications for the 19th edition of the ‘Future-Strengthening Parenting Project.’ Organized by Sumitomo Life, with support from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology and the Children and Families Agency, this initiative aims to foster a nurturing environment for parenting and promote a dream-filled future.

Launched in 2007, the project highlights two main areas of public recruitment: recognition of parenting support activities and assistance for female researchers. Through this initiative, Sumitomo Life aims to encourage healthier parenting practices and contribute to building a hopeful future for the next generation.

Goals and Objectives

Sumitomo Life, collaborating with various partner companies, engages in Future Generations Relations (FR) activities, focusing on the dialogue with future generations. The aim is to support the rich growth and challenges these children will face, ultimately striving for a well-being-centered society.

Categories for Application

The project offers recognition and support across two main categories:

1. Awards for Parenting Support Activities
Individuals or organizations actively working to create a positive childcare environment in their communities can apply for:
- Sumitomo Future Grand Prize and Cabinet Office Minister Award – 1 recipient
- Recognition certificate, trophy, and a monetary prize of 1 million yen.
- Sumitomo Future Minister of Education Award – 1 recipient
- Recognition certificate, trophy, and a monetary prize of 1 million yen.
- Sumitomo Future Award – Approximately 10 recipients
- Trophy and a monetary prize of 500,000 yen each.

2. Support for Female Researchers
Female researchers balancing childcare with humanities or social sciences research are invited to apply for the Sumitomo Women Researchers Encouragement Award:
- Approximately 10 recipients, with financial support of up to 1 million yen annually for two years, scheduled from April 2026 to March 2028.

Application Period and Selection Process

The application period runs from July 7 to September 8. Following an initial selection process by the project office, a final decision will be made by a judging committee associated with the ‘Future-Strengthening Parenting Project.’
