Synology Unveils the PAS7700: A Game-Changer in Enterprise Storage
On May 21, 2026, Synology officially announced the launch of its first Active-Active all-flash NVMe storage system, the PAS7700, tailored for mission-critical workloads. This innovative solution not only promises high enterprise-grade performance but also ensures continuous fault tolerance and optimized operational efficiency.
As stated by Bie-i Chu, Executive Vice President of the Synology NAS Group, “The PAS7700 reflects over 25 years of expertise in the storage sector and close collaboration with enterprise customers. It meets the evolving demands for high availability, performance, and scalability.” After undergoing a year-long real-world validation through an enterprise Proof of Concept (PoC) program, the PAS7700 has been demonstrated to deliver exceptional reliability and performance while contributing to customers' total cost of ownership (TCO) reduction.
High-Performance Storage for Demanding Workloads
Featuring a dual-controller architecture and a robust 4U chassis, the PAS7700 is equipped with 48 NVMe SSD bays, which can be expanded to accommodate up to seven expansion units for a maximum raw capacity of 1.65 PB. It supports a wide range of file and block protocols, including NVMe-oF, iSCSI, Fibre Channel, SMB, and NFS, ensuring seamless integration with various data storage environments.
With the capability to house up to 2,048 GB of memory and a 100GbE network, the PAS7700 achieves an astonishing performance—delivering up to 2 million IOPS with latency under one millisecond and throughput up to 30 GB/s.
Continuous Operation and Data Resilience
In environments where downtime and data loss are intolerable, the PAS7700 is meticulously designed to ensure continuous operations. Its Active-Active architecture incorporates multiple layers of redundancy, such as RAID triple parity, in-memory synchronous write protection, IP failover, and protocol-level failover. This robust framework guarantees uninterrupted operations, even in the face of unexpected incidents.
Additionally, the system is equipped with standard features like self-encrypting drives (SED), Write-Once Read-Many (WORM) capabilities, shared folders, immutable snapshots, snapshot replication, and Hyper Backup, ensuring that organizations can immediately leverage Synology’s proven data protection tools.
Optimizing Costs and Storage Efficiency
The PAS7700 aids organizations in maximizing storage efficiency while minimizing costs. Advanced deduplication features significantly reduce storage consumption across large enterprise workloads. Furthermore, upcoming support for Synology Tiering will allow automatic allocation of infrequently accessed data to low-cost storage based on customizable policies, preserving high-performance storage for active workloads.
The PAS7700 is available globally through Synology’s network of resellers and partners. For more details, visit
