MERCAN Group Launches First Hotel Project in Panama

MERCAN Group has made a significant announcement regarding its expansion into Panama with the development of Pullman Panama City. This luxury hotel marks the company’s inaugural project in the vibrant city of Panama, in collaboration with Accor, a leading global hotel group.

A Vision Realized

Set to transform an existing hotel property in the Bella Vista neighborhood, the Pullman Panama City will serve a dual purpose as a mixed-use development featuring a total of 306 keys. This impressive composition includes 180 hotel rooms and 126 executive suites, alongside modern amenities that cater to diverse needs. The hotel will boast restaurants, bars, a rooftop terrace with a swimming pool, a fitness center, a spa, coworking spaces, meeting rooms, and entertainment zones, providing both leisure and business travelers with exceptional options.

Scheduled to open its doors in 2028, this project reflects the growing trend of enhancing Panama City's tourism infrastructure and hospitality services. Jerry Morgan, Founder, President, and CEO of MERCAN Group, emphasized that this venture is not only a hotel opening but also a testament to their international expertise's application in a rapidly developing market.

A Thriving Tourism Sector

Panama's tourism landscape has been flourishing, with the country attracting nearly one million visitors in the first quarter of 2026, reflecting a robust 17.3% increase from 2025. This surge is a clear indicator of the potential growth opportunities that lie within the sector, solidifying the need for high-quality hospitality services.

Gloria De León, Panama's Minister of Tourism, vocalized her support for this new development, stating that the project symbolizes confidence in Panama as a tourist destination. The hotel will create a ripple effect, benefiting transportation companies, local businesses, and countless professionals, significantly impacting the economy.

Strategic Expansion for Accor

Not only does this project highlight MERCAN Group’s ambitions, but it also signifies Accor's commitment to expanding its portfolio across Latin America. Abel Castro, Chief Development Officer of Accor Americas, noted that Pullman Panama City will meet the demands of both business and leisure travelers, emphasizing the strategic location of the hotel in one of the region's key urban centers.

He expressed confidence in Pullman’s strong international brand and innovative hospitality solutions, forecasting that the hotel will become an integral part of Panama’s hospitality scene.

Architectural Excellence

The design and architectural reimagining of the property will be spearheaded by Mallol Arquitectos, ensuring a blend of functionality and contemporary aesthetics. MERCAN Group, with its three decades of experience in international hospitality, will oversee the rehabilitation process, reinforcing its solid track record of operating over 32 hotels, attracting over 4,100 investors, and amassing more than $2 billion in cumulative investments to date.

In summary, Pullman Panama City is poised to redefine the hospitality landscape in Panama. This development is more than just a new hotel; it symbolizes the growth and potential of Panama’s tourism and hospitality sector and invites both local and international travelers to experience its upcoming offerings.
