The Japan-Sweden Dental Science Association, headquartered at Total Health Consulting in Tokyo, has announced that registration for the web archive of the 8th Japan-Sweden Dental Science Conference is now open. The conference took place on December 7 at the prestigious Ito International Research Center, University of Tokyo. The theme for this year's conference was 'AI and the Future of Dentistry as Informed by Swedish National Guidelines'.
This event gathered prominent figures from various fields in the dental industry, discussing ground-breaking advancements in dental healthcare. Leading experts, such as Professor Peter Ringström, President of the Japan-Sweden Dental Science Association, outlined the pivotal role of AI and smart materials in evolving dental treatments.
Key topics included the innovative software utilizing AI to analyze X-rays and intraoral images, exploring the future tools for remote dental care and caries treatment, and discussing smart dental materials used for caries prevention and remineralization.
Professor Stefan Renbert, Vice-President of the Association, shed light on how AI aids periodontal disease treatment through multi-modal sensing technologies. His talk highlighted the significance of utilizing advanced technologies like the mHealth intervention for holistic dental care. The application of laser treatment for peri-implant diseases was also examined.
Kicking off discussions on the clinical efficiency of AI and IoT-based oral cleaning devices was Professor Kim Hyun Jeong from Harvard Medical School. He provided insights into how these customized tools could become integral to future dental practices. Dr. Nakahara Yoshihiro discussed actionable ways to apply Swedish national guidelines to both clinical practice and dental management.
Meanwhile, Dr. Taniguchi Yoshinari’s presentation focused on the emerging significance of regenerative medicine and implants. He shared fascinating case studies on the clinical implications from an anti-aging perspective. Key comparisons were made regarding the application of platelet-rich plasma and stem cell cultures in regenerative dentistry.
Those who participated in the web conference can apply for various certificates, including the Swedish Dentist Certification and the University of Gothenburg Japanese Schooling Diploma.
