The much-anticipated Koiwa Day festival is back, set to take place from May 15 to May 18, 2026, around the JR Koiwa Station. This year’s event marks a significant milestone as it expands to include a whopping 75 participating shops, up from 24 in 2023. The festival aims to invigorate the local community through collaborations between restaurants, regional groups, and the Western Koiwa Shopping District. Designed to promote a sense of unity and support for the area’s commercial revitalization efforts, Koiwa Day embraces local flavors and celebrates the spirit of the neighborhood.

Celebrating Local Taste: Culinary Delights Await

Over the four-day event, attendees can indulge in specially curated menus from a record 66 eateries. For just 1,000 yen, diners can enjoy a unique dish paired with an alcoholic or soft drink. This menu not only highlights the individual flair of each restaurant but also signifies Koiwa’s transformation from a once-solely nightlife district into a vibrant hub for all ages. Throwback nostalgia intertwines with modernity as new restaurants join traditional favorites, showcasing Koiwa’s evolution as a blooming culinary destination.

As part of the festival's offerings, the Western Koiwa Shopping District will also host a lottery drawing during the event. Starting from May 1, any purchase of 1,000 yen at participating stores grants shoppers one lottery ticket, where lucky winners can take home fabulous prizes such as tickets to renowned theme parks and local gift vouchers.

Exciting Additional Activities and Markets

Koiwa Day isn't limited to food; it’s set to engage the community with a variety of activities. On May 16 and 17, local handmade artists will display their creations at a charming market, while coffee enthusiasts can delight in the inaugural Koiwa Coffee Festival.
