Envision Energy and Kallista Team Up for 386 MWh Storage in France

Envision Energy and Kallista Energy's 386 MWh Energy Storage Initiative in France

Envision Energy, recognized as a frontrunner in green technology, is taking significant strides in its partnership with Kallista Energy, a notable player in the European renewable energy sector. They are set to deliver an innovative battery energy storage system (BESS) in Neuilly-en-Thelle, Hauts-de-France, designed with a capacity of 193 MW / 386 MWh. This project marks a pivotal advance in sustainable energy systems and is expected to begin operations before the spring of 2028, following its groundbreaking in early July 2026.

This initiative builds upon the previous collaboration on the Saleux project, Envision Energy's first BESS undertaking in France, which commenced in 2025. With this new endeavor, both companies aim to refine their strategy for energy storage deployment across Europe, aligning with broader goals for a resilient future energy system.

Envision Energy is providing its advanced BESS solutions and will oversee every aspect of the project’s lifecycle—from site management to sustainable battery recycling after 25 years of operation. Utilizing lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells manufactured at Envision AESC’s gigafactory in Hauts-de-France, operational since June 2025, this project not only supports local manufacturing but also strengthens the region's industrial capabilities and enhances energy infrastructure.

Once operational, the Neuilly-en-Thelle energy storage system will offer vital flexibility services to the French electricity grid, ensuring smooth frequency regulation through RTE’s reserve markets. Designed to equal the daily energy needs of 30,000 households, it will significantly bolster grid stability and facilitate the integration of renewable energy sources, furthering France’s electrification efforts.

Henry Peng, Senior Vice President at Envision Energy and President for the EU and LATAM regions, stated, "This new BESS project with Kallista Energy underscores the growth of our partnership, which is rooted in mutual aspirations for Europe’s energy transition. Envision not only provides reliable and scalable storage technology but also delivers extensive lifecycle support to maximize the long-term value of these assets. This integrated model supports our Future Energy System objectives and enhances grid resilience while promoting renewable energy adoption and sustainable industrial growth in Europe."

Johann Tardy, CEO of Kallista Energy, added, "Battery energy storage plays a crucial role in achieving the electrification of energy consumption and expanding renewable energy infrastructures aimed at a low-carbon economy. In Neuilly-en-Thelle, we can leverage our robust collaboration with Envision Energy, built on the success of our Saleux project, to establish a state-of-the-art storage facility that furthers our commitment to energy transition."

The Neuilly-en-Thelle project is emblematic of the ongoing shift towards sustainability in energy production and consumption, utilizing advanced battery technology to provide significant benefits to the energy grid. This collaboration not only highlights the importance of shared visionary goals in renewable energy but also demonstrates how successful partnerships can lead to innovative solutions crucial for responding to climate change and energy demands.

As the project progresses, it will undoubtedly serve as a template for future energy storage systems across Europe, showcasing how combined efforts can pave the way for a more sustainable and resilient energy future. The implications of this project extend beyond immediate energy needs, promising long-term benefits for local economies, industrial sectors, and the planet as a whole.
