CITGO's Commitment to Mental Health Support
In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, CITGO Petroleum Corporation has pledged a generous donation of $60,000 to bolster mental health and wellness programs in the communities where it operates. The initiative reflects CITGO's ongoing commitment to the well-being of its employees and local residents.
Kresha Sivinski, CITGO's Vice President for Human Resources and Support Services, emphasized the importance of this contribution, stating, "One of the many ways we care for our employees and surrounding communities is by supporting mental health programs and services. Our donation will help these local organizations promote community wellness by expanding access to care, challenging stigma, and inspiring hope."
CITGO's donation is distributed equally among four nonprofit organizations that are dedicated to improving mental health in their respective regions:
1.
Family Counseling Service (FCS) - Located in Corpus Christi, Texas, FCS offers professional therapy and support to individuals and families throughout the Coastal Bend area. The funds will focus on mental health programs specifically designed for youth, addressing the unique challenges they face.
2.
National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Greater Houston - This organization focuses on advocacy, support, education, and raising awareness for families and individuals affected by mental illness. As the presenting sponsor of NAMIWalks Greater Houston 2025, CITGO's support will help raise critical funds and awareness for essential mental health services.
3.
Family Youth Counseling Agency's Healthy Women Initiative - Based in Lake Charles, Louisiana, this organization is dedicated to the mental well-being of women at all life stages. The donation will assist in funding counseling, case management, and connecting women with available community resources.
4.
NAMI Will-Grundy - Based in Joliet, Illinois, this affiliate provides free, peer-led support to individuals living with mental health conditions and their families. CITGO's funding will promote their 5th Annual BeActive 5K Walk/Run and other initiatives aimed at recovery and community involvement.
This initiative not only highlights CITGO's role in fostering community resilience but also underscores the critical need for mental health support in various populations. By supporting local organizations, CITGO is making a tangible difference in the lives of many individuals grappling with mental health challenges.
