This innovative program offers a significant discount on electricity costs, aimed at ensuring customers can use energy freely during peak summer hours.

What is the Summer Happy Hour 2026?

The "Summer Happy Hour 2026" operates daily from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, encompassing both weekdays and weekends. During this time, enrolled customers will receive an attractive reduction of 8 yen per kWh on their electricity usage. By efficiently utilizing the peak sunlight hours during the day, Octopus Energy aims to provide a financially sound and comfortable lifestyle for its users.

Prior to the launch, over 150,000 customers had already registered for participation, showcasing an impressive increase from last year’s participation of around 110,000.

In light of increased concerns regarding energy pricing and inflation, coupled with predictions of another hot summer ahead, Octopus Energy seeks to alleviate customers' financial strain by promoting energy use without the fear of high bills. Last year’s Summer Happy Hour saw around 110,000 participants and provided an impressive average benefit of approximately 335 yen per participant, demonstrating a tenfold increase compared to the previous year’s energy-saving challenges. This underscores Octopus Energy's commitment to redefining the notion of saving energy from merely enduring it to making smart choices.

With prolonged heat waves becoming a common societal challenge, relying less on cooling systems poses health risks, such as heatstroke, and many individuals hesitate to use air conditioning due to heightened electricity costs.
