Critical Path Institute Strengthens Board with Key Leadership Appointments

The Critical Path Institute (C-Path) recently made significant changes to its Board of Directors, aiming to fortify leadership in its mission to accelerate drug development and enhance patient outcomes. Karen Bernstein, Ph.D., co-founder and former chair of BioCentury Inc., has been named the new chair of the board, effective July 1, 2026. She takes over from M. Wainwright Fishburn, Jr., J.D., who has played a crucial role in C-Path's journey thus far.

Alongside Bernstein's appointment, the board has welcomed two accomplished professionals: Yalonda Howze, J.D., and Milad Alucozai, DrPH, MPH, M.Sc. Their extensive backgrounds in biotechnology and life sciences are expected to bring valuable insights during this pivotal phase of the Institute's growth.

C-Path has been instrumental in transforming care for various diseases, including type 1 diabetes, polycystic kidney disease, and Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Her tenure at BioCentury saw her serve as editor-in-chief until 2015, shaping crucial narratives in the field of biotechnology.

Yalonda Howze brings nearly two decades of legal and executive experience within the life sciences sector. Her recent achievements include her role as interim CEO of Generation Bio and her previous positions at Codiak BioSciences as EVP and chief legal officer. With her background in genetic medicine and autoimmune disease therapies, Howze is poised to contribute substantially to the board's legal frameworks and regulatory strategies.

Milad Alucozai is recognized as a bridge between biology and technology in the biotech startup world. As co-founder of Pamir Ventures, he has demonstrated his commitment to fostering innovative solutions through investment and operational leadership. His insights into AI-driven drug development could be pivotal as C-Path seeks to integrate more technology into its methodologies.
