STL and Netomnia Join Forces to Upgrade UK’s Full-Fibre Network
In a significant step towards improving connectivity across the UK, STL (NSE: STLTECH) has announced an expansion of its partnership with Netomnia, the country’s second-largest alternative network provider. This collaboration, established to create robust optical solutions, is pivotal in accelerating Netomnia's mission to deliver a full-fibre network that meets future demands efficiently.
Advancements in Full-Fibre Connectivity
Netomnia is rapidly deploying a native 10 Gbps XGS-PON full-fibre network that promises high-performance and scalability. Notably, this partnership has enabled Netomnia to service approximately 2.8 million premises, with around 400,000 already connected. The ambitious goal is to reach 3 million serviceable premises by the end of 2025 and hit 5 million by 2027, thereby reshaping the broadband landscape in the UK.
With years of expertise in the optical solutions field, STL's involvement is crucial in streamlining this rollout. The company will deliver end-to-end Fibre to the Home (FTTH) connectivity solutions that encompass both optical fibre cables and connectivity solutions, ensuring faster and more efficient deployments.
Technological Innovations Driving Efficiency
STL's optical fibre cables boast a remarkable average area reduction of approximately 20%. This innovation enhances duct utilization while minimizing material consumption and reducing the overall carbon footprint. By integrating these advanced technologies, STL is equipped to assist Netomnia in accelerating the rollout speed, thereby decreasing the total cost of ownership (TCO) of their network.
Vision for a Connected Future
Jeremy Chelot, the Group CEO of Netomnia, YouFibre, and brsk, emphasized the importance of this partnership, stating, “We are building an uncompromising full-fibre network for the UK’s future needs. To deliver at speed and scale, we rely on partners who innovate with us.” He acknowledged STL’s commitment to co-development as key to enhancing their network reliability and readiness for future demands.
STL’s CEO for Optical Networking, Rahul Puri, echoed this sentiment: “Our partnership with Netomnia has been truly special and serves as a model of what is achievable when we align our visions. We are excited for the future and committed to co-creating a connected, efficient, and transformative digital landscape.”
