The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications has announced an opportunity for temporary employment at the Statistics Bureau. This recruitment is aimed at finding a qualified individual to act as a substitute for personnel taking spouse accompanying leave.

Job Responsibilities


The selected candidate will be responsible for various tasks, including:

1. Processing information required for planning, executing, and publishing statistical surveys, utilizing statistical analysis software such as R for data processing.
2. Assisting with meeting arrangements (both in-person and online) and preparing relevant materials.
3. Providing support for other administrative duties as needed.

Number of Positions


Only one position is available for recruitment.

Eligibility Requirements


To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:

1. At least one year of practical experience in data processing using statistical analysis software, preferably R. Familiarity with Excel macros or VBA is an additional asset.
2. A degree equivalent to a university education.
3. A cooperative demeanor and a proactive approach to undertaking tasks.

Please note that the following individuals are not eligible to apply:
1. Non-Japanese nationals.
2. Those who are unable to become national public servants under Article 38 of the National Public Service Act, including individuals sentenced to more than a short-term prison sentence.
3. Individuals who have been subjected to disciplinary action resulting in dismissal from general service within the last two years.
4. Those who have been declared quasi-incompetent under civil law prior to the amendments made in the 11th year of the Heisei period due to reasons unrelated to mental weakness.

Working Hours


Working hours are from 9:30 AM to 6:15 PM, excluding weekends and holidays, with a one-hour break. Please be aware that these hours may change.

Location


The position is based at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, located at 19-1 Wakamatsu-cho, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo. The office is a five-minute walk from Wakamatsu-Kawada Station on the Toei Oedo Line. Please note that commuting by car is not allowed.

Employment Duration


The employment period starts from the agreed hiring date until March 31, 2029. There is a possibility for contract renewal based on the duration of the spouse’s leave.

Salary Payment Schedule


Salaries are paid on the 16th of each month, as a general rule.

Salary and Benefits


The initial salary for this position will be based on the standard monthly salary corresponding to a new hire in an administrative role, adjusted for the candidate's experience level and qualifications.
For example, a candidate with approximately seven years of experience could expect a monthly salary of about 331,560 yen including a regional allowance of 20% applicable to Tokyo.

In addition to the base salary, the following allowances are also provided:
  • - Regional Allowance for staff working in high-cost areas, e.g., 20% of the salary for those in special wards of Tokyo.
  • - Family Allowance for those with dependents, e.g., 13,000 yen per child per month (as of FY2023).
  • - Housing Allowance for those renting accommodations, up to 28,000 yen per month.
  • - Bonus and performance-based incentives determined by the duration of employment and work performance.
  • - Additional benefits depend on the specific ministry duties performed.

Commuting Allowance


Transport costs incurred for commuting will be reimbursed up to 150,000 yen monthly, including Shinkansen fares.

Retirement Benefits


Retirement allowances will be determined based on the regulations pertinent to national public servants.
