Central Phuket's 6-Year Splendor and Luxury Expansion
The Central Phuket shopping mall has recently reached a remarkable milestone: its sixth anniversary. To commemorate this achievement, the mall plans to expand its Floresta zone significantly, investing a staggering one billion Thai Baht (approximately $28 million) in order to boost its luxury offerings and further establish Phuket as a leading global luxury destination.
Aiming for Global Luxury Status
Dr. Nattakit Tangpoonsinthana, Chief Marketing Officer of Central Pattana Public Company Limited, highlighted Phuket's ambition to stand alongside renowned luxury destinations such as Hawaii, Monaco, Santorini, and Miami. The province is projected to see tourism revenues soar to 500 billion Baht (around $14 billion) in 2024, representing a substantial 28 percent increase from the previous year. This growth is bolstered by international visitors, who spend an average of 34,336 Baht ($935) each, driving demand for high-end retail experiences.
Expansive Initiatives
The expansion will increase the Floresta zone from 180,000 to 200,000 square meters. Additionally, the number of luxury brands available will rise from 16 to a staggering 25. Among the notable high-end brands currently present are Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta, Burberry, Bulgari, Dior, Gucci, Hermès, and Louis Vuitton.
Several exciting highlights from the expansion include:
- - Louis Vuitton: Launching the largest boutique expansion in Southern Thailand.
- - Prada: Unveiling its largest boutique in Thailand, spanning 597 square meters.
- - Tiffany & Co.: Opening a flagship store in Central Phuket.
- - Bulgari: Introduces a pop-up store outside Bangkok.
- - Celine: Anticipated grand opening in December 2024.
Moreover, the first Lululemon store outside Bangkok and the biggest ZARA flagship store in Southeast Asia at 1,800 square meters will also be part of the expansion. Currently, Central Phuket welcomes about 80,000 visitors per day, and with the new expansion, that number is expected to rise to 100,000, with around 70% being international tourists. The primary markets contributing to this influx include Russia, China, the United States, and Singapore.
Enhancing Tourism Infrastructure
Central Phuket's expansion aligns perfectly with efforts to enhance the island's tourist infrastructure. The international airport is set to expand its capacity to accommodate 18 million passengers, featuring Thailand's first five-star terminal dedicated to private jets, capable of handling up to 156 jets annually.
Beyond retail, Phuket is brimming with luxury offerings such as top-tier culinary experiences, with Su Va Na recognized as one of the best underwater restaurants globally; five super yacht marinas; 28 Michelin-starred restaurants; 16 world-class golf courses; a network of 13 international schools; and nine internationally accredited hospitals.
